seeing tanaka there (no disrespect) gave the same feeling as seeing M night shamalyan name in the credits of a movie.

always looking for good people.
Say what you want about Tanaka, he helped make FFXI one of the best MMOs ever.
I don't even place the failure of 1.0 entirely at his feet. There were other people higher up who wanted FFXIV out the door ASAP. I'm sure they didn't care that it wasn't finished because it could be perpetually updated --and they certainly didn't expect players/media/etc to get up in arms about it.
This game (and FFXIII) caused a big wakeup at SE. They realized that just because your game is called 'Final Fantasy', it doesn't mean that everyone will give you a free pass if it turns out to be a pile.
But, but...Oh hey everyone, I think I should remind you that SE is on the wall whether or not to bring FFXI to the PS Vita.
If this happens, then if nothing else, you'd have a chance to play FFXI while away from your PC (vacation, school, work, prison, etc.)
(actually, FFXI on vita would be very cool, but I don't think I'll be going back to it unless they make it f2p, or at least give us FFXIV players a substantial discount)

Also, ppl is ignoring the fact they will be separating the FFXI client of PC from PS2/360, starting by the exclusive UI...so it's VERY possible that over time the PC version actually getting a graphic boost.
I'm really looking foward to it since the "Claim the Land" mechanics look very cool, the lairs are a nice idea, the new monsters' concept art are really cool and if the job they will show today turns out to be an A+ GS job I'll go crazy! I ALWAYS wanted an A+ GS job since it was my weapon of choice there! ^^
Tbh With the his Vision of FFXIV ( which was alot revolved around Leves moreover anything else, which was an endless grind of the same friggen quests over and over and over again)... I'm even sure if his Vision would have been good, even if it was fully realized.Say what you want about Tanaka, he helped make FFXI one of the best MMOs ever.

And besides Yoshi-P is fixing the game anyways and its turning out to be a beauty.. so in the end.. I don't care who made it.. because in the end everyone as a whole at SE made it.. If FFXIV is Commercially successful Don't just thank Yoshi-P but thank everyone that worked beside him as well.
