Can't access character after switching to Steam.

Hello, a friend of mine just got a new computer. His old on was a Mac and he had up through Shadowbringers. On Steam however, he only has ARR and Heavensward. His character is at the end of Heavensward. Does he need to buy up through Shb for his character to appear? He did link the Steam acct to his SqEnix acct. Thank you for helping in advance!

It is correct that the game and its expansions are bought separately for each platform.

The character should appear, however it would probably not allow them to enter a later expansion's area.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

The character should appear in the character list regardless. He would just not be allowed to log in to the character under certain circumstances (having logged out in a SB or ShB area and trying to log in on a platform that does not have SB or ShB registered). Make sure both the Mac license and Steam license are registered to the same Service Account. It's possible to have multiple Service Accounts with separate licenses rather than a single Service Account with multiple licenses, and if a character doesn't show up at all after registering a new platform, this is usually the problem.
