    I'm not speaking for myself I am making an observation on the majority. I prefer to play a few games before ranked to check ping etc.

    You are free to have that opinion but there is no reason to punish players with less experience or skill by matching them randomly with anything from unranked to top 100 other than to practice. If anything ranked is a safer space for the casual player as they will mostly get matched with people of similar skill and this only becomes stronger later into the season. People are only offended by the idea of ranked because it has items attached to it they may not be able to get. And for many who post about it here the payoff is not worth the time invested. However, they still want those items.

    This is anecdotal, but does anyone else get the impression that Casual already does sort of "matchmake"?

    I can't count the number of times I've gone up against the one or two players I know the names of while we're both supported by varying players on our respective teams. We hardly ever end up on the same team (if we do it's usually a curb stomp because we usually have played much more than our opponents), and we play for hours.

    I've started to think they just use the only metrics that are tracked in the pvp menu outside of ranked: job choice and total lifetime victories. Anyone else have a similar experience?

    Either you have a rank and it is ranked or you don't and it is unranked/casual.

    The whole point of casual is the lack of a rank, therefore nothing on the line. Just adding rank in there would alienate the people who want to pvp while actively avoiding ranking systems.

    Awful idea.
    you seriously cannot sit here and tell me that ranked is not on constant life support, try to convince me as to why dev resources should be continued to be poured into it.

    nah its not, theres just more people playing casual then there is ranked so you going up against a team of gods is not likely.

    i mean yeah but thats not really the entire reason, sure theres a fancy new weapon sure but thats not 100% of the reason no. thats like..... 3% if at all, people would rather focus on having fun and not have the stress of 'ranking up'
    but of course with ranked already being dead, theres no reason to touch it lol.

    As someone that's playing a lot of casual CC, I'd be quite sad to see it merged with ranked. The primary reason being that I like to rotate through all jobs a session as it's just so fun to play around. I wouldn't want to have to have any sort of matchmaking either as having mixed teams can benefit both new players (having someone to look up to and not feeling left alone useless) as well as experienced ones (showing newbies how you can shine in a match). Does that make most of the matches a coin flip? Probably but so is Frontlines... But in CC I can see if my performance was good or bad without any external evaluation - I can mess up and not feel TOO bad about losing - unlike ranked which can get very frustrating very fast

    I mean there has got to be a reason that the casual queue works and the ranked one just doesn't (and again - shiny exclusive stuff won't ever be enough for me to be malding at a coin flip mode - ever)

    i do agree, while the mode merge sounds good on paper i don't think it will work in practice 100%.
    also yeah, i don't think any reward is worth malding at a coin flip mode, to say otherwise is just outing yourself as a pvp anti lol

    Can't say I have experienced that personally Larc. I'm sure there are some wide variances from DC to DC as well though.

    I mean people are pretty toxic in casual and ranked on primal but idk Towa. I think if you don't put value into the plates or weapons it doesn't have to be stressful.

    The dev team that takes the time to create new items for the series pass and the crystal shop is not the same team that does pvp balancing. The only recent thing that would've taken that dev time would be the glows on the hell hound weapons, and even then they are very minimal compared to the other glows in the game. Your argument of removing ranked from the game because it's only played by a small portion of the player base is like saying they should remove Ultimate raids because they are also played with a small portion of the player base. And Ultimate raids do take more dev time to make than trying to keep CC balanced, and it also benefits the whole player base.

    counter argument to that is, they can use casual mode to keep stuff balanced to since its quite literally the same thing and im quite certain ultimate raids don't require FOMO rewards to keep going neither does it have coin toss matchmaking with little to no control over who you match with, that argument does not hold water.

    BUT im open minded so if there's another reason you can come up with that would make a reasonable person with an open mind actually THINK that ranked is good enough on its own and does not need life support, id like to hear it.

    EDIT:
    I have seen the 'ultimate raid' argument multiple times and it does not really work in this situation.
