    Content Finder

    In the 4Gamer interview Yoshida said a fair bit about the Content Finder that is to be included in v2.0. While this sounds like a very good feature since finding parties for things is often very difficult and lengthy and since we need a party for almost everything I'm sure this feature will be well used. However, when he was saying that communication won't really even been needed with the addition of this feature it had me thinking about the effects of this.

    Currently how the game is the end-game activities, mainly the instance dungeons and primal battles, are very hard and even less forgiving. These battles are hard enough to do with a familiar group let alone a pick-up group. Since I haven't seen him mention anything about altering the difficulty of these events aside from the addition of an option to play in hard mode (which means to me they are currently only normal mode) it makes me wonder if this feature will cause more stress than it relieves.

    If we are expected to play with random players with little need for communication then things need to be made more forgiving. Not necessarily easier but definitely more forgiving to groups so that a few individual mistakes don't cause the party to fail. And of course to change the reward mechanics so we don't feel like a loser most of the time we actually win the battle but that has already been well discussed in other threads.

    I really want the Content Finder to succeed but I'm worried the difficulty of the activities it is meant for will cause it to fail. Has anyone else been thinking the same or have seen something I missed about v2.0 that will help this?

    I dont remember he says something about no communication needed.

    Also no, last thing we need is to make this game easier and encourage the bad players. They did mention about different difficulties though. But, we kind of already have easy mode for both primals no?

    Yep, BLM stack. Also he only ever mentioned that communication with strangers can be hard, as in you won't likely say "hey whats up?" to random stranger than you are to "Hey whats up?" to your friends/LS mate.

    Solution: Do content with your own group.
    Don't ruin it for people who actually need the content finder. If all goes well, they'll realize how bad pick up groups are and actually try to find a good group of people they can play on a schedule with.

    Similarly, I hope they don't make content with pick up groups in mind... If they do, at least include a hardmode which has a meaningful incentive to do it.


    Edit: Also, lol @ thinking any of the content we have is hard.

    Yoshi is smart, he already said CF won't be for harder content, just content for the people who complain abou...well, mainly for casual content.

    im very happy to hear this, dont want FFXIV 2.0 to turn into WoW where u log in solo, or hop into a dungeon via dungeon finder, and since there are thousands of ppl no one ever needs to look for ppl, so why bother even talking? ending up in a MMORPG where no one ever says a word to anyone.

    I dont remember he saying anything about this lol, also that wouldnt make much sense >.> since most instanced stuff are not casual content. Well actually they are casual content since it takes 1hr at most to run dungeons, i guess they are not bad players content.

    Yeah, he mostly mentioned it can be used for any content, but it's more preferred if you do hardcore content outside of it.

    The 4Gamer interview translation I read didn't have the best wording/grammar so I may have interpreted incorrectly but this is the impression I got: The Content Finder is meant for most events, including the instances, but not for their hard modes or for speed runs. In the interview he uses the example of going to a dungeon for the clear reward. So I'm assuming he does mean it for instances at least for the function of accomplishing the minimum goals.

    Bad players = Money, its going to happen.

    Game needs to be easier, simpler and more accessible, you can look at some of the big successes (new and old) to see why. And strategy isnt a form of easy/hard, also you can only do the low lv primal once, unless you follow someone, always relying on that other person to have it.

    Game needs to be easier in the right context.
