Legitimately a very good point TheCa.
They added some mediocre glow to hellhound weapons for reaching at least diamond.
They wanna get people back into ranked but at the same time prevent a outrage by the pve community for having pretty weapons locked behind pvp.
Perfect solution: Take ugly weapons and make em Glow.

While I wish they had at least updated the model for the hellhound weapons since some have pixel issues from yonder PS3 days going on I wouldn't call them ugly by a long shot.
You say they are dodging outrage from the pve community like the PVE community isn't also playing ranked. There are so many necromancers/legends/lone hero/once and future people running around in all levels of ranked. Maybe the majority of casual players aren't in there but are they really the bar for "PVE" community? Can you be "player versus everything" if you only play the story and maybe clear the casual raids here and there?
While I agree with ThaCa that the reward systems should extend all the way down to bronze, Im genuinely amazed by the seething and malding over the mere existence of ranked-exclusive rewardsystems. God forbid the mode gets incentive...
Humble reminder - casual players getting good rewards (battlepass, at least half the time) was never at odds with ranked rewards existing, it was mainly a matter of resource allocation from SE - so I don't understand why so many of you are so ADAMANT about the theory that SE axed ranked rewards to make space for other things. Smh.
I'm not sure I'm seething over their existence, but I sure always had a problem with them, especially in Feast. The idea that dev resources get spent to make something that barely a handful of players will own does not really sit well with me at all. The idea that a reward is limited in time (FOMO, the crystal series is also problematic in that regards) is something that really, really grinds my gears. If on top of it you add that it's limited for a top 100 or whatever, yeah, I'm definitely not comfortable with the idea. At all.
Like I said, if they add the glowing token spendable with trophy crystals instead, people will try to get it by doing Ranked and maybe Casual either way.
This isn't, Ranked should get something special, Casual stay poor topic. There are no sides here, stop imagining you're the honorary member of Ranked players and people complaining are filthy casuals.
There are lack of stuff to use with trophy crystals, you get 90% of those garbage from BattlePass, the only thing you can trade in is one fucking X materia for every 4000 trophies, before went through multiple stupid trade windows.
Imagine getting 6x Grade X materias from 4.5 months Battlepass with clicking all those windows to get it.
And instead of use the new reward to fix this problem, they went back to their old sick habit again.
Oh wow, we can get materia from trophy crystals? Or were you talking about exchanging them for wolf marks and then materia. There's my evidence that the menus are too obtuse and a chore to navigate.
I'm all for them doing whatever change necessary to make ranked have more players, be that adding or removing exclusive or time-locked things, merging casual and ranked, allowing a group queue, balancing the modes on something other than win/loss rates, or actually cracking down on win traders.
More ways to get what you're after can only be a good thing: I enjoyed getting Manderville relics this expansion doing the content most fun to me this expansion: pvp. I didn't have to fight Garuda hard mode 400 times during specific 2 hour spans or grind fates on max level jobs in zones that suck for fates, or play ffxi. Not everyone agrees with me on this, but applying the same idea to pvp makes sense. Throw more stuff on the trophy vendors and the battle pass. Hell, maybe personalize the battle pass like Chloe books. If you make bronze last season, maybe it could offer you a personal, additional award for hitting silver this go around. Keeping people coming back and interested in improving makes the game better for everyone I'd think.
the only way i see them actually getting casuals to get into the mode and stay in it for any length of time is to lower the requirement for getting by a couple of ranks, I.EWhile I agree with ThaCa that the reward systems should extend all the way down to bronze, Im genuinely amazed by the seething and malding over the mere existence of ranked-exclusive rewardsystems. Gold = 1 commendation crystal
Plat = 2
Crystal = extra 2
we can dodge the fomo relatively easy this way AND keep the tryhards happy.
EDIT:
The main reason why i make this suggestion is because ranked currently does not respect your time in the slightest and lowering the requirements for people who DO NOT want to be in the mode for too long and just want the glam can get their stuff and get out.. would just make the casuals happier and less opposed to this.

I know Overwatch had this exact system for unlocking gold weapons, and I thought it was great. Even if you were placed lower you still could realistically work towards getting an end reward. I think just adding any long term reward grind with ranked that rewards all ranks would be good and still encourage people to least try the mode out more.
To be honest if they add this with a new mode play, think this would be more accepting, beside the overwatch crystal pushing mode we had since 2 years ago.
