I love Mizuta (Nobuo's music made me mute the entire game and play a mix of FFXIII and FFXI's music)
I like all the composers so far. The mesh of styles actually makes it feel varied. Also- somebody posted the op idea a while back it had a positive come rep response. Worth checking back on though.
What about, after a predetermined amount of time, having the chocobo/mount theme fade out, and then afterwards the normal music would kick in? It was that way in FFXI iirc. That's the best of both worlds if you ask me.
I don't know about you, but I don't have this problem. I don't exactly sit on a mount every waking moment im in the game.
I wouldn't mind a feature like this, though I'm not really asking for it either.
I dunno about you, but any time i'm doing legwork, I'm on a chocobo. This usually means any time that I am not fighting, crafting or idling.
That means that out of the time that I actually spend playing, 90% of the time, I will hear either battle music or chocobo music. That's kind of boring.

i think the point of the music is to capture the tone, emotion, atmosphere, and culture etc of the game
people, when exploring, are always going to want to be mounted. because its faster, and if you run in to danger (especially in an area you've never been) you can get away faster, etc.
so you have the option to either
walk -> hear the music, take in the atmosphere, but also gimp yourself
or stay mounted -> crap all over the atmosphere
you are basically overriding the culture of the game in favor of the chocobo song. you want to be able to explore the zone and take in the atmosphere, but the chocobo music fucking ruins it to be quite frank. visiting coerthas for the first time, seeing those gorgeous rock formations and hearing that melancholic strained violin, then you mount up and the chocobo song cannibalizes all of that splendor.
the chocobo song doesn't accurately portray where people's minds are, or what their psychological state is like. and ultimately this fucking song is crapping all over the feeling of exploration.
chocobo song should be only used for the main chocobo quest and when you first get your chocobo, and doing very closely chocobo-related activities, like racing them, feeding them, breeding them, etc.
when exploring, yes, you are on a chocobo, but that is not the feeling that is or should be prioritized.
stop putting us in this awkward position where we have to talk shit about chocobo music![]()

I'm not either, but I move around a lot (it IS an MMO. there's a lot of game out there!) and I always always always do so on a mount, like most of everyone here.
I'm enjoying how much this thread has blown up. I appreciate the fact that so many share my passion for music, so thanks, everyone, for responding.
Now...if we could only get a Community Rep in here to give us an update....
(PSSSST!! Now's your cue, Rukkirii!)
What you basically said was "anytime I'm doing anything that isn't riding a chocobo, I'm riding a chocobo."I dunno about you, but any time i'm doing legwork, I'm on a chocobo. This usually means any time that I am not fighting, crafting or idling.
Really?
Directly asking for community rep responses usually produces the opposite of the desired effect.Now...if we could only get a Community Rep in here to give us an update....

Don't misunderstand me here. I love the music in the game and i share your passion for it. But I'm *not* on a mount unless i'm in a hurry to get somewhere. If I'm in a hurry to get somewhere I'm not really any more likely to hear the whole music track even if the chocobo music isn't playing.I'm enjoying how much this thread has blown up. I appreciate the fact that so many share my passion for music, so thanks, everyone, for responding.
