How can the community improve?

Hello everyone. I have been visiting the forums more recently than I have in the past, and from reading some of the various threads and posts, there seems to be a call for the community to improve. This is a nice sentiment, but if the community is to get better how would we go about doing so? Well, one suggestion might be to be more involved with your server community.

Since a lot of us already frequent the forums, why not get more involved in the World forums than we do the General Discussion forums? While the General Discussion forums do get more foot traffic it would be more beneficial to the community to get more involved with things we can get engaged in. What I mean by that are in-game things. The forums are great places to organize these types of things, and if we want our community to improve we should help it along.

A common complaint voiced by quite a few players are the AF quests. There is always the resounding “get friends to do it” or “get an LS”, these comments aren't going to help any one. If the community wants to improve itself, then we all must help each other. By simply shrugging off the numerous number of players having trouble getting AF, why not post in your world's forum about organizing a player event to run people through these quests, or someone who is having trouble getting the quests done can take the initiative and start the event themselves.

By getting more involved with our world's communities we, as a game community, become less detached from the people on our server. This will give us a sense of camaraderie that will help the community grow and become greater.

So, get over to your world's forum, talk it up a bit, get involved, and with that our community as a whole will start to improve.

The community can improve once 2.0's out.

No, seriously, once the dev team closes most of its doors to community suggestions (and frankly I hope they do it sooner rather than later at the peril of good game design) then people can start talking about the game and strategies and grouping and everything that made FFXI's community so great.

Right now people who suggest stupid ideas (ideas that would be like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole) get flamed and flame back and everyone just has a bad time.

Community isn't going to be improved, all MMO forums has their shares of stupidity and retardness. However, forum community doesn't reflect ingame community, so far Gungnir has been nothing but friendly and good people.

~3% of people playing this game post on the forums, the world forums are generally used for LS recruitment and things like that. I hate that people /sh in Uldah for an hour and then complain that no one helps anyone in this game. Have you made any friends by helping someone else? Have you shown the initiative to look for an LS on Lodestone to join? I know about 1/4 of the people on my server, maybe more, because I have helped or have been helped by many. People just want things given to them or people to do things for them, they need to wake up. When I walk out of my inn when I first log in to Uldah, when I'm sitting around thinking what I want to do today, I'm looking at the /sh channel, if I see a /sh that interests me or someone that I know needs help then that's what I'll do. I always laugh when I see two people /sh'n for two similar things like AF body fights "@3/8", if the two leaders would get together they could have one party and just knock both quests out together, but they would rather sit there and /sh for another hour then disband because they couldn't get enough people.

When the community gets smarter it will get better, until then there will be people that get/give help and those that don't

Well for one people could stop posting ridiculously named threads and/or threads in the wrong sections. I think raising awareness that General Discussion isn't the ONLY forum on these boards would go a long way. That is of course assuming people understand how to categorize their posts at all (it's not hard).

Problems with AF quest and a lot of events like the GC quests there is a big rush when they are first out but because there is a lack of players if you miss the initial rush you are going to be shouting a long time to get something done especially AF quests when people have them already done.

I don't know about your server, but lately I've just been going around helping random people shouting in Ul'dah.. I don't really have a reason aside from wanting to make a few friends. Joined a random group that needed an 8th for ixali camp in natalan for a 45+ grind, ended up making their day by bringing them to wolf camp. Idk, some people just need to loosen up.

like all games theres leechs and thats it theres a few on my server and and some do a ton of LS hopping begging for help then play AFK when others need help. and you have people who do help just because.
