Actually, it goes to prove SEs case on parsers. The claim is that "we use them to improve" blah blah...yet what do we see? Those same dps numbers being used as a tool to harass and embarrass other people via this forum. If you have a parser you are meant to keep it to yourself.

Using parser numbers to harass others is in fact validation of what YoshiP has said about how they are misused..so that in turn lends weight to the idea and belief that they should not be allowed AT ALL.

So..if using parsers like ACT is to improve your own gameplay...then there isnt any need to go poking noses into someone else logs.

So..to use a parallel to what was said earlier.....

In that, if you have never touched the fight or cleared the fight, or ones of a similar nature then it's difficult to actually speak first hand about the topic itself,

well it is not for harassment/embarrassment it's just to show you've got no experience with harder content therefore your opinions on stuff like the P10s bug are very misinformed. but you can bitch to Gaius for bringing it up if you want.

I genuinely don't think it is harassment just to simply point out the fact. This wouldn't be too dissimilar to people trying to dismiss concerns on content or lack thereof by pointing out they haven't completed, or don't seem to have completed xyz, just as an example. The only difference being that the offense is on the different side this time. Not saying you're personally responsible, but it's a lot more prolific than you think on this forum, the only difference being that the metric is different.

If you feel personally embarrassed by the fact then I would say this is a you problem. In many cases there actually isn't even anything wrong with that, a majority of players, even arguably those on this thread will have, at some point in time parsed grey. The difference being that some people decide to use it as self-motivation to either improve or look where a problem is, and some people will elect to wallow in self-pity on the fact.

Harassment is not pointing out the fact, harassment would be something a whole lot stronger, frankly.

What the intended use for a particular piece of data is, and what people elect to use said data for are 2 entirely different things. Under this premise, I could actually make a pretty good case that minions and mounts collection should be hidden from the lodestone, because you could absolutely and very easily harass someone over that. Equally, you could harass someone over achievement score pretty easily, and arguably to a lot more of a toxic degree than, say, parsing.

Let me try and reframe this for you... Nobody entirely disagrees with whether they are bugs or not, whether they're abusable or not, etc., - The problem is when you write stuff such as this:

I take exception, however, to the again toxic attitude that it needs to be " fixed nao " or that SE is "incompetent" or that "They dont do QA". They do.

At the end of the day, to a degree, it doesn't matter what the fact behind the scene is - The end result is entirely the same that people are left with bugs that otherwise can intrude on something that should be enjoyable, so yes, people are going to be annoyed, and trying to feign some high-ground is only going to aggravate.

I dont see what the huge fuss here is. Bugs happen. All the time. They happen, they get reported, they get fixed. As if this is something new or unheard of.
