I find it amazing that for many, it seems to be reaching 16 is the norm.I essentially just gathered enough new mats for the construction and let the workshops and construction xp do the rest. No work needed other than setting up the workshops. I should be reaching lvl 16 on tomorrow pm. Those that want to grind can grind but that’s just boring to me. Getting the final mount a few weeks later makes zero difference to me.
Anyway, I don’t think they will keep updating the Island after the EW expansion.
When many who dropped the ball on IS or were away are only just barely about to reach 14.
But content takes its own pace, and the casual IS EXPlosion havers, are basicly IS Midcore.
With the Few IS Hardcore who gathered/mixed all the exp to 16 day one for the discords.

Those that do partake in it, actually enjoy it, and put only the amount of effort they think it deserves.

Being that IS is essentially this expansions version of either The Ishgard restoration or Bozja (in terms of resources at least) I can almost guarantee that it won't receive any more updates after 6.5x (might be in 6.55 though), and that update will likely be a small one, like the previous update, so probably no new gathering zones, just a couple extra landmarks, mounts, and a few more recipes.
We might get a second Island as 'new' content for 7.x, but given how they like to shake up this side content each expansion, I wouldn't place any bets.
Island Sanctuary is going to be really awkward in 7.0 when it basically exists solely as a free source of Cordials.
Whatever we see in 6.5 is likely the final version of the feature, hopefully it gets something to make it worthwhile but I'm not holding my breath.
Let us bring our fave husbandos and waifus to the island and have em stay there!
They've done a number squish before and it went fine. If they continue it I'm sure they can compensate or just introduce a different mechanic with its own exp system.
That said I'm with the doubters here when it comes to whether or not it'll get much more attention. *coughcoughSQUADRONScough*

Whilst Island Sanctuary would benefit from having a grind behind it - It's got a system in such that, if you're doing it you're probably watching Netflix etc.,
I think it would benefit more just having a proper gathering system behind it, and/or a crafting system where people can craft for the workshop with gathered items.
You mean all the different aspects of DoL/DoH, which have fun minigames built upon them, are varied and quite well developed? Nah, that would make too much sense, let's make it so you click the node, short animation plays, and then you're done.I'm conflicted on this.

Seriously, at least make some RNG modifier for higher yield or some time/weather dependent nodes or something, anything that isn't clicking a tree/rock/plant.
I wouldn't really call it an old school grind. The most effective way to get XP is to use your granaries and update your workshop once a week. 10 minutes once a week is hardly a grind.at the rate xp requirements are inflating, I suspect it will get ludicrously hard to level the island sanctuary at one point
and honestly, I'm all for it, it would make IS a kind of an oldschool grind that while mindless, would be pretty satisfying for all the people who dedicated time into it
Island Sanctuary was supposed to be relaxing farming game, it's just a weekly spreadsheet and forget sadly.
