What do you do with your house?

I'm curious to know what y'all who have managed to obtain a house (personal vs FC) do with it once you have it.

I know housing is a real hot button issue, but putting the difficulty in getting one aside, once you have one what do you do with it?

I can see where it would take a bit of time to get it setup just the way you want it with décor and such, but once you do that, then what?

I'm genuinely curious about this. I got caught up in the I guess FOMO and bid on a house or three but no go, but got to thinking about what I would actually *do* with the house once I got one.

Do y'all constantly redecorate, or is it more of a 'woohoo I got a house!' moment that you can check off the list and move on to other things?

I spend the vast majority of my time at our FC house where I can interact with the members, tell jokes, etc.. If I was hanging out at a private house it would be me, myself and I would miss that interaction with my FC mates.

This is one of things I've been heavily focused on as I find combat really unsatisfying lately. I would say definitely make an effort to look around wards you visit or even online and see if maybe you're inspired by anything. Housing in this game is deceptively deep and can be a lot more than just placing furniture down. Have you learned all the glitching techniques?It can also be fun to try to recreate spaces you like offline in the ffxiv world.

To answer your question I think how you design your house is how it gets used. If it's set up for clubbing you can host events there. If it is a cafe you can put it on PF and roleplay. I know people who use their houses in all sorts of ways. I just won a house and I haven't even been able to design it yet because I'm designing the yard and gardening, which is also its own thing.

And as far as showing it off yeah-- there's a whole community into housing. If you do something cool throw it up on PF and tell your friends. People will stop by and sign your message book letting you know whatever they think. The other day I went to a Zenos dedicated FC room with some friend bc we saw it on PF lol

My main’s house is right by a marketboard (my main criteria when bidding) and I have all the items that grant some utility such as a dummy, retainer bell, garden, armoire, aesthetician, fc chest, toybox, orchestrion and vendors (only missing a dresser), so I just hang there while I wait or craft. I’m also in the Goblet (didn’t look elsewhere) so I can qt to turn in gear to my GC in Ul’dah which is close to the main aetheryte. Although it was coming along nicely, decoration is not quite finished and I don’t know if I’ll ever finish.

It’s similar for my alts and the fc house. Fc house is not decorated indoors save for usable items and a few others as none of us seems to care (and I don’t like the medium’s layout) but we use it all the time.

I have another house on another DC and I let some friends influence me in choosing a more “prestigious” and pretty plot. I realize that I never use the house because it is further away from a MB and it’s not where my GC is. I‘ll probably end up just relinquishing it or let the timer run out. Still pondering but my neighbours would probably be happy to see the eyesore bright pink lala house gone from a very visible spot lol

I don’t care much about the social aspect of housing. I never look at PF social announcements and block all people spamming about clubs. I will sometimes hang at a friend’s house if we are waiting in between duties or if they ask me to check something but that’s it.

To me a house is essentially for pure convenience.

If i’m not in duty or gathering, i’m at the FC house.
- Managing workshop projects.
- Crafting inside the FC (Near the FC chest).
- Chilling & listening to my favorite orchestrion rolls.
- Practicing on dummy.

FC house is my favorite spot in the game. If my friends want to hangout, they know where to find me.

Its where I spend my time, I stopped parking myself in front of aetherytes anymore, I take care of my retainers,I craft, I redecorate and just “live” there far away from people :3

Made a place for myself and a few friends, using it to afk and listen to Pulse tracks :v
Sometimes I drop PF invite, people come and we just chill, talking about stuff.

I simply enjoy my little cottage.

I have a garden that brings in some gil, but mostly I simply like it as a place to be.

Almost everything in and around my cottage that can be crafted, I made myself. Likewise, every fish in my three aquariums was caught by me. It gives the place a real sense of ownership and personalization, to the point that I made a message book and opened the cottage to visitors because I liked what I'd made and wanted to share it.

It's... home.

Crafting, listening to game music, sitting outside on a bench and looking at my Levi fountain when I'm waiting for DF, and gardening though I lost the thread on doing that a while back and should probably pick it up again

At my FC house I've spent time recently in the workshop since I didn't do much with subs yet

I decorate for the seasonal events. I always have one area set aside, indoor and outdoor, for a seasonal display. The rest pretty much stays the same and gets updated whenever new items are added that I like better. But that’s pretty much where I spend my time when I’m not hanging out at the FC house. I’m also a gpose addict, so I take a lot of screenshots at home.
