    Reworking Restorative Potions + Tank abilities

    Potions (such as Hi-potions, Ether, ..etc.) see little to no use in FF14 unlike other FF games, i've been thinking, why not rework them to have them replace restorative abilities ( second wind, lucid dreaming) with a 20 sec cd per use, some limitations can also be placed on how many can be equipped, let them also be used by all jobs while greatly reducing self-sustain abilities currently present (on Tanks specifically).

    Speaking of Tanks, why not give them some crowd control status effects and make them associated with their aoe abilities on 30 sec cd, for example (PLD:SoC. & GNB:BowShk. = blind effect for a short duration) , (WAR: Orog. & DRK:AbysDr. = Pacification effect for a "shorter" duration).

    If they did that I'd prefer bottomless potions, or tying it to the repair system (and dark matter + alchemist can replenish the durability). Limit per battle rather than content (5 bottles or something, 2 extra for bosses, and further if echo tiers are reached).

    If it wasn't streamlined into a system like that I'd probably stretch each potion to the limit as I generally do not like generic consumables as a whole (Souls like systems are okay). Also if it wasn't forced into a system like that I can only imagine the joy of getting a mana-less healer or floor tank lol.

    That said I don't know if weaker sustain would have a net positive impact given our community predilection and how deep we are... still think the easiest bet for healers is just to give up the healers must primarily be heal responsible and give them a bunch of support and combat skills based on theme (offensive and defensive).

    Paladin used to have pacification and blind CC. I don't miss flash lol, but more diverse flavor tools would be neat.

    Palace of the Dead, Heaven-on-High, Eureka Orthos. They are also useful when a healer is dead or there is no healer, especially at lower levels where they are more effective and tanks have less self-heals. A good emergency button when there isn't a healer.

    I found them useful when doing no-healer runs of dungeons at lower levels especially.

    The main issue is that you can't even consider using them in raids because you are probably using tinctures.

    PLD used to have blind on Flash and Pacification on Shield Swipe. Nobody really noticed or cared about these effects, to the point SE just got rid of them. The only thing people notice most of the time in this game is whether something does damage.

    Other FF games aren't MMOs. There are limitations to what will translate and what won't.

    100% this. Synced down to 50 or below? An HQ Max potion is essentially an extra tank CD on a 1m CD. 30% hp every minute is ridiculously good.

    Max lvl? The new HQ potion heals for MORE than Second Wind does with half the CD.

    Max Ethers can routinely be used by BLM in dungeons to get an extra flare off.

    Carve & Spit needs decoupled from Abyssal Drain and C&S needs a healing component.

    Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
    Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
    Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

    There is also the fact that they're extremely clunky to use due to their extended animation lock.

    Weaving a healing potion every 20 seconds would probably drive me insane.
