I forget the name of this, but basically "transition at school", treat the child as the other gender, call them by their new chosen name and pronouns, etc, and keep all this from their parents.

You may agree or disagree with that as a policy, but it has happened. There are also case of children being encouraged to take the next steps (hormone therapy and surgical interventions) even if they may not be totally sure of their gender identity themselves.

Also, the quote you provided was well after any of that discussion was going on, and as I noted, supporting transition and such and opposing opposition to such things and to it being taught in schools IS a modern policy of the left party in the US.

    That's the thing: YOU DON'T.

You don't see people being those things because THEY aren't being those things. You WANT them to be those things so you can namecall and attack them.

There are many kinds of people in this world, but here are three that are important to remember:

    1) Those who seek to subdue their inner demons.

    2) Those who have no problem expressing them openly.

    3) Those who have a problem expressing them openly but DON'T want to subdue them - so they just call people demons and witches (or transphobes and bigots and racists and so on), and use that as justification to be just like the people in (2) just with a clean conscience.

A fantastic quote everyone should memorize:

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
    ― C. S. Lewis

    EDIT:

And yes, I do have a bee in my bonnet over this sort of thing.

I hate it when bullies go around bullying people, then try to act the victim - while still bullying - if they get a taste of their own medicine. It's like the kid who all BUT touches their sibling while shouting "I'm not touching you!" over and over, and then when the sibling does it to them (or actually does touch them), cry and scream bloody murder and try to get authority figures to aid them in attacking people who were already their victims.

Transphobe and bigot are insults. No one can pretend otherwise. Calling broad swaths of society that is you instigating. When they do it back to you, you don't get to claim victimhood. And worse, you don't get to then use THAT as a FURTHER attack on them or as ex post facto justification for the names you were ALREADY calling them before.

...GOD I hate bullies...especially the insufferably self-righteous kinds. Religious or secular, it's all the same kind of thing, and I can't stand either. Just leave people alone. And if you can't be bothered to not attack and insult people, don't cry when they do to you what you were already doing to them. <_<
