Uh huh. Except, y'know, in the context of the story that those characters exist in? They're gay. You being mad about it doesn't actually change it.Which is SUPER pointless cuz no they're not gay. They're not real. They're made up cartoons for a videogame. They have no lives, no inner thoughts, no desires or dreams and aspirations. They quite literally cannot be gay because they aren't real and possess no Free Will. They are a representation of the artists intentions and goals for that said character. The artist might be gay, but cartoon drawings can't be and aren't.
Edit : I'm starting to get a little concerned that humans in general are losing touch with reality in an attempt to escape from the drudgery of existence. But allowing ones self to devolve into having emotions for, against, or about cartoon/videogame characters is highly disturbing. THEY AREN'T REAL.
I'm an LGBT ally, but I don't think it has any place in this game. And it isn't just because it is a game. If we want to talk about equality, then we shouldn't place value on "who we love." As a Warrior of Light, does it matter what my sexual orientation is? I can be a hero and be gay, straight, white, black, etc etc. When we point out these differences, we also highlight these differences. We shouldn't define ourselves by these traits. These traits have no bearing on our ability to save Eorzea. That's why I don't think the game needs a pride event.
Queer representation in media matters, whether it's fiction or non-fiction. Period.Which is SUPER pointless cuz no they're not gay. They're not real. They're made up cartoons for a videogame. Considering the community has done so much to politicize "pride" and "pride month" (a minority group demanding special privileges not afforded to others is most definitely political), it could be argued that it'd be in violation of their own policies against promoting "real-life political groups, religious organizations, or business entities". "You're not an ally with that sentiment" binary-level thinking is divisive - the kind of sentiment that the FFXIV team doesn't seem to want to engage in with this issue.
