Many in the Deep Dungeon community were a bit disappointed with the lenient difficulty level of clearing Eureka Orthos solo, so why not add an optional challenge mode to help give the content longevity for those who enjoy it most? To minimize development impact and promote knowledge transfer from regular Orthos, new poms and enemies are not needed, just some tweaking of configuration variables. Some ideas for what could be in challenge mode:
  • Increase max number of rooms per floor from 8 up to 12 or more.
  • Gloom on every floor.
  • Increase rate of treasure rooms and mimics.
  • Give bosses soft enrages where their damage increases the longer they are alive.

As for rewards, I'd say none besides a scoreboard and bragging rights. This would filter out the people who are in it for extrinsic reasons and make it purely for those who love the challenge of clearing solo Deep Dungeons.
