Battle credit for heals?

On a hunt train today, where the bosses were dying in a few seconds, I tried giving others some time by tossing a heal on a party member whose health was down a bit. The heal executed, but I didn't get credit for the kill.
I was playing SMN, and used Physick.
Do you have to be playing an actual healer class to get credit with heals?

OK, Multiple train leaders have said heals will get you credit as well. I'll just keep hitting the bosses once (if it's a big crowd.)

Credit for hunts goes by enmity. That's probably why people think that heals can increase credit, as heals generate enmity.

As WHM, I get credit if I cast Asylum (big bubble heal) on the group. If it's on CD, then I just hit the boss once.

You do get aggro via heals. Dunno why this other person is saying otherwise.
Most likely what happened is you healed someone who also didn't get into combat with the mob. Easy way to tell is do you have the aggro list appear with the mark? If not, your not getting credit.

All that is required is for the enemy to be in your enemy list. Healing someone who has attacked it achieves this. But it might not count if the heal is delayed and the enemy dies before it takes it into account.

heal gains hate, which is noce, but you need to tap it (even just an auto) to "start" it if that makes sense

so use 1 (one ) damage spell and then heal heal heal

In current hunt trains the population is so high that the marks may not load in on time for you to target it. So non target aoes or heals are the way to get credit in these cases.
