Game silent crashes upon loading into game

Hello! Just re-activated my subscription for FFXIV and wanted to start on a new character. But every time I login, I sit through the queue and wait for a bit for it to finish loading - the game does a silent crash without any explanation why. I can hear the slight click sound like the HUD loading in before the loading screen but it crashes before anything else loads in.

I've tried doing a clean boot and I've even deleted then reinstalled the game but it keeps happening. It also happens with my old character too.

I have the game installed on my External SSD due to storage on my main SSD and also kept encountering disconnect problems. And with the External SSD, the problem went away and I never experienced such serious crashing until now. Would anyone know how to fix this issue?

We would like to assist with your concern. Please try the following to see if they help:
- Try switching to DirectX 9 by selecting the ‘Config’ button on the launcher (if applicable).
- Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card and sound drivers (Please note that your drivers may be outdated according to the report).
- Please be sure that Final Fantasy XIV is installed to the C: Drive. If it does not work, please install game on different drive.
- Please be sure to disable or remove any overlays (Discord, Steam, NVIDIA etc.) as they may interfere with startup.
- Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated.
- Reinstall game once more after making these changes.
