Healers' Radius Buffs Have Turned Every Fight Into Visual Nonsense

I just had a run of Voidcast Dais EX in which I repeatedly missed what would happen during Gale Sphere, because half the time, when we got to that mechanic, the (primarily blue) spikes would be blocked out by a gigantic (and also primarily blue) 30y Asylum covering the entire arena, making it difficult to even know where I needed to stand. This was not merely the case once or twice, but consistently, because since I took longer to actually find the safe spot, I had less time to react, and so I repeatedly got hit--and, wouldn't you know it, when the white mage either forgot or still had it on cooldown, I could do Gale Sphere perfectly fine, even the more complicated one later on in the fight.

As has every other person who played this game, I already have battle effects on others set to limited, because Endwalker has pretty much ruined the ability to let you keep it on while still being able to look at the ground you're standing on. What, exactly, am I supposed to do when the limited battle effects are the problem? Am I supposed to just turn them off, and then inevitably have someone be justifiably upset at me for not being in a Passage of Arms I can no longer see?

I'm not even saying this from the angle of whether or not the range, on a raw, mechanical level, is a good change. I'm just saying that literally none of these actions were visually designed to be this large, and now that it's been decided they all need to be that large, it's made EW's already visually messy fight design even worse. If WHM wasn't kind of a lock in every PF ever made, I'd probably be only entering ones that had an AST/SGE duo for this fight on this basis alone. Either stop having things be this large, or recognize that you're going to have to take away a lot of these effects if you plan on staying down this path.

You heard that OP? You better turn all the effects off, and if you die to a raidwide because you were not stood in the very small cone of the Passage of Arms you could not see that's tough beans, you are NOT allowed to complain

/s big time, btw. Considering as I said before, I've raided with someone who had their effects off, and that caused them to die to raidwides they could have lived through, which in turn means potentially dying to enrages in Savage because of it... Yeh, saying 'don't complain' is not the play. Especially when we have other stuff that people complain about that is WAY lower on the priority scale but seems to get more attention. Like the stupid chair drama. SE didn't do anything, sure, but all the youtubers jumped on their chance to give their un-requested take on it. Can they talk about how some people have difficulty seeing mechanics because of the size of the domes now?

What if placing the dome on the floor, made the VFX of the 'stand in this circle to not die' in P11 disappear, because the VFX of the dome overwrote the circle? It doesn't, but hypothetically speaking. Is the solution to 'turn off battle effects and stop complaining', or is it for SE to design stuff in a way that doesn't force the option to turn the effects off?

Whm/Sch bubbles are only 15y not 30y. They were once 8y then went to 10 now they are at 15y. I’m fine with it. It doesn’t obstruct my view at all. Though I do agree that limited should make abilities a little more limited than they are now tbh. Maybe they will do something about that later on. One can only hope.

They're 15y from the center, meaning their full diameter is 30. This is relevant in this case, because the height explicitly scales with that.

15y radius = 30y diameter, so OP's not technically incorrect in their statement of the size

As for the OP's problem, iirc I had an issue where a raider I played with would not stand in Soil, turned out they had other's effects to 'off'. Obviously an issue back in SHB or whenever it was, when it was possible to dodge Soils, but now that it covers 90% of the arena, you could probably safely turn the option to 'off' anyway

Don't worry, OP. Since it would be a problem for the other more important roles to have their vision obstructed by the less important role's oppressive visual effects, even with limited battle effects option selected, from their DPS-unfriendly and even more fun-oppressing healing-centric abilities or otherwise, I'm sure YoshiP and his crew will downsize the effects of all bubbles and healing effects to instead become a momentary and ambiguous thin circle of light on the floor, to symbolize that the unimportant role has done a thing and that all is going according to the prophecy.
It will still be ignored, like before, but at least the visuals will have been reduced to a state of negligence to match the necessity of the stupid role in general!
And if it's not happening soon soon enough for you, here's a fun tip: just get on a twitter account and post screenshots as a DPS main to showcase this issue. Make sure to tag Squeen, add a bunch of frowny faces, and explain absolutely nothing, and I'm sure they'll not only remove all of the bad role's visual effects from the game entirely, but they'll even buff the damage and healing output of the actually-important roles so you won't even have to worry about taking the red-headed step-role into your parties anymore! It's fool-proof! <3

Yes, I'm being sardonic (mostly), and, yes, currently, your only option is to completely turn off others' effects, but, like ForsakenRoe has pointed out, it really shouldn't be a problem anymore. Maybe, with the visual effect enhancements coming in 7.0, you'll see additional system options put in place to further limit the VFX you see (perhaps on a per-job basis).

IMHO SE should really consider having flattened versions of Soil, Asylum etc as ground markers in limited or off effects mode to curb the visual clutter a bit.
