The problem with these “elo hells” isn’t even the tier, it’s the matchmaking system. I.e. you’re gold and you get paired with silver, bronze and unranked teammates.

The good news is that a lot of people that made it to crystal previously are climbing which means you might get a silver or bronze teammate that’s actually a crystal player. Atleast for now, since the season just started. Once everybody reaches the tier they “should” be in, you’ll notice more frustration in gold games or even reaching gold.

oh, die hard ranked players cried hard enough and square finally caved so now anybody whos diamond or higher get a new currency for glowy hellhound weapons..... that surprise surprise, look mid af compared to literally anything else that you can acquire from pve.

im not so sure this was ranked players cuz ive checked and unless i missed something there hasnt been a post requesting rank exclusive rewards

Probably just square wanting more activity in ranked so they add particle effects to some honestly pretty mediocre looking weapons overall. Still not enough of an incentive to sucker me into ranked. For me personally what would get me playing ranked consistently is;

A decent glamour set that isn't locked behind the highest ranks, and it not being a recolor of an existing set.

More series XP for participating.

More moderation of the toxic cesspool that infests ranked. Remove "Target to ignore" marks being placed on team mates. Block people from spamming in party chat. Punish win traders more heavily.

Until then I'm not going to bother with it. Ranked players can be condescending or toxic all they like, and fail to realise that their behaviour isn't helping to attract a wider range of people to the mode. And yes, for the record I HAVE done some pretty horrible PvP grinds in other MMO's for armor sets. There's nothing in FFXIV pvp that is worth putting in that much effort. I'm hoping in 7.0 they consider adding way more rewards, maybe a new PvP queue, roulettes for RW/CC/FL with some sensible rebalances.

Yeah if it was locked behind Plat I'd put some time into grinding ranked out briefly. But for Augmented hellhound, its a pretty hard sell for "meh" looking weapons.
