It's the perfect time to finally go outside!
It's only a holiday in the U.S. Not sure if Mexico or anything in the south has anything, but up north there isn't anything going on.
The maintenance is at one of the lowest activity periods of all for most regions. It is just for a few hours, for one morning, and often a maintenance ends early, especially when it's just fixing something. I don't know what the problem is.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.

It's a holiday in Europe as well, in Belgium, in the Netherlands amongst other countries. Also the maintenance is from 9 AM to 12, not sure how it's the "lowest activity periods", it's literally the middle of the day for EU and the evening for Australia
That's a stretch. It's in the early morning for europeans ie. when they are yawning or sleeping in and eating breakfast, and the middle of the night for americans. It's unfortunate for Australians and anyone in that area of the world, sure.

How is 9 to 12 an early morning ? You know the average wakeup time for people is about 7 AM right ? This is even backed up by actual statistics
Yes, and they could have done that literally the day after when people are at work/school instead of doing it on a holiday, that's the point, and 9 to 12 is not early morning, maybe if you're lazy and always wake up at 12
