Yeah it makes so much more sense that it just stops coming after you when you punched it in the eye.

Oh dear God... I remember when me and an LS mate had to go to the basement for a quest and he ad no idea the Crawlers were aggro or linked. I stopped at the ledge and was applying my sneak/invis when he just leeroy'd into the entire godamn 2nd room. Molested by not less then a dozen crawlers while screaming for me to "Get down here and help!"

I was laughing so hard I had to stop playing for a few minutes.

[QUOTE=Mikita;733500]A bit of danger (especially at night) would be kind of nice IMO, but we still need to make it possible for DoL to get around if they don't want to fight, and keep travel between the main cities fairly safe even for new players.[QUOTE=Mikita;733500]

I am glad you brought this up. If non-battle job (DoL or DoH) can run across the map with only "A bit of danger" where is the challenge in that for DoW or DoM? We should have to travel in groups of 2 or 3 to get to the first party camps. FFXIV could learn a thing or two from FFXI in this aspect. This game is WAY too fluffy when it comes to travel. Don't get me started on the teleports that are spoon fed to us like infants. Teleports that are every 200 yalms in this game to cater to "casual" gamers. "Casual" gamers are the ruin of FFXIV.

Further, we don't need to buy maps to explore! I used like hunting coffers for maps, or needing to take a couples of buddies to go keel something for a map.

You know, I love FFXI. I played the game for eight years. It made a profound impact on my life. FFXI took me in as an awkard social outcast and taught me how to effectively communicate and build relationships with people. Over the years, I formed friendships in Vana'diel that are still strong, and will stay with me for the rest of my life. I look back on all the years some (like my parents) would say I "wasted" playing XI, and I have no regrets. Only fond memories. FFXI will always have a special place in my heart.

But come on already. This game is not FFXI. It should not try to be FFXI. I love my memories of FFXI, but that's all they are now. Memories. And how much SE makes this game similar to XI...they could make it a direct friggin' port with the same graphics engine and everything...there is no possible way it will ever match up to the memories I have of my years in Vana'diel.

This thread has been done a million times, and it always ends up the same. The meaningless "casual vs. hardcore" debate escalates from bickering to insults, and sometimes to threats before it gets locked by the mods, who quite frankly have better things to do. It escalates because it is a completely pointless argument. It's a shark arguing with a falcon on the best way to catch a fish.

"No fair! I've lived in the water my whole life and you get to just swoop down and catch them!"

    "But I don't have gills. I can't breathe underwater."

"You should've spent more time evolving then lol"

And so on and so on.

Stop this already. There is no point and nothing to be gained from it.

If the thread depresses you then don't waste time posting such a long post. =P It isn't out of hand and doesn't need any moderation.

Just because FFXI did some things right doesn't mean I am saying that this game should be a sequel. But, honestly though what in this game as far is truely original lol. It would be more proper for this game to be a FFXI clone than a WoW clone.

But back to the topic. This game lacks spatial and temporal progression, period. We should not be able to run across the world with a non-battle job.

RahJah, interestingly enough, you DO know that DoL has the ACTUAL exploration abilities right? All the Stealth abilities are on DoL and that makes me think that you're definitely MEANT to go places as a DoL.
That perhaps finding new lands is duty of a Disciple of Land. You really ought to give THAT some more thought.

That aside... Tell me about 'not having dangerous exploration' AFTER you get The Wanderer's Shadow title. Seriously, get every single friggen Aetheryte out there. Hell, go take a trip to the HALL MONITOR TREES and tell me how it goes.

The Black Shroud can't be nuked fast enough.
