WHM literally gets 2 free rezzes if they want them (Thin Air)Thanks for your satire.
The sad thing is a few of these things could actually happen the way things have been going.
I hope they remember that one of the issues in 1.0 was that "no matter how much you cast spells, you never run out of MP". We aren't quite at the point where you never run out of MP, especially if you need to rez, but it's something that could happen with the sort of changes that have been made the last few years.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
MP costs aren't an issue. How about removing cast time instead, that way I'm not a sitting duck for 3 seconds every time I cast a heal.
Honestly with how the game is going with how little damage they seem to want to throw out, yeah. just do the lost ark approach, healers aren't *needed* but instead provide great support and emergency healing rather than being required.I know it's satire post, but I think they should make healers into support and offense and just have /less/ healing spells overall. For example SCH and SGE could be more offensive focuses, bringing back more of the offensive spells and fairy help, empower kardia and kardia related mechanics, remove some healing spells if needed for button bloat, definitely add more damage style spells. Then WHM and AST would get more support related damage- empowering the card system, adding built in balance where needed like buff player damage up to X potency, make damage through your friends (like stoneskin, when it breaks deals damage, or if it expires), etc.
They would ultimately be roughly similar output.. less healing spells though still obviously there. For those who still want to be healer for team spirit vibes would be support style, and those who were liking things like original SCH would have that too.
Would hopefully allow healers to have interesting rotations
I know you're trolling but the idea of something like an instant cast raise with like 2 charges that refreshes on the same CD as Swiftcast would be a nice change. Could still keep the ability to hardcast for those times it's necessary but it might help take a little pressure off co-rezzers who use SC in their rotation. And get away from the mindset that the RDM especially is always going to do all raises since they're more efficient at it and move that responsibility a bit more back onto healer shoulders.
Honestly I'm not against this. I've never been stuck so much on the healer part of healer as being the support role. When I tank, I want to take the hits and protect the party. When I dps, I want to melt all the things. When I heal, I want to support. And there are many ways to support. So long as a support role was still required, then something like this might actually work.Honestly with how the game is going with how little damage they seem to want to throw out, yeah. just do the lost ark approach, healers aren't *needed* but instead provide great support and emergency healing rather than being required.
