In light of falling healer participation rates and numerous complaints from midcore JP raiders about never-before-seen bleed damage in Abyssos Savage, we shall now redesign the healers White Mage, Scholar, Sage, and Astrologian with the same successful design philosophy we employed in Shadowbringers.
Healers:
All MP costs are now removed.
Developer comment: Pressing Lucid Dreaming every minute adds too much complexity and stress to healer jobs. Therefore, Lucid Dreaming and all MP costs will be removed to streamline healers. However, Freecure will not be deleted.
Swiftcast is now removed from healer roles. Raise is now an instant cast GCD.
Developer comment: Healers do not have good instant cast raises if their Swiftcast is used prior. To bring them in line with Red Mage, we have now removed Swiftcast and made raise an instant cast.
White Mage:
Dia duration increased to 120 seconds.
Developer comment. Many healers have commented that tracking their DoT every 30 seconds adds too much stress to the job and takes away their focus from healing. Therefore, we have elected to make Dia's duration 120 seconds. The same applies to Biolysis, Combust, and Eukrasian Dosis.
Asylum, Medica, Medica II, Cure III, Assize, Afflatus Rapture radius increased to 100 yalms.
Developer comment: Healers have found it very stressful to communicate with their teammates to remind them to stay in range for healing. We decided that the previous increases were insufficient and have elected to increase it further to 100 yalms.
Scholar:
Energy Drain and Aetherflow are now deleted.
Developer comment: These actions are deleted in order to make way for new actions on Scholar: Fey Unison and Healing Tactics. We wanted to make Scholar have more healing actions as we feel that it currently has too many damage-related actions. Fey Unison will come in 7.0 and gives scholars another way to use the Faerie Gauge. It'll heal all party members for 1000 potency, and expending 10 gauge. However, we are also planning to make it not cost any gauge and become a regular cooldown in 7.3.
The fairy can no longer be controlled. Embrace range is increased to 300 yalms.
Developer comment: The pet hotbar and the pet action Place made Scholars extremely hard to play for beginners. Therefore, we have decided to remove the pet hotbar and made Embrace's range 300 yalms so that Place is no longer needed.
Dissipation now no longer removes the fairy and gives you 100 Aetherflow stacks.
Developer comment: In order to encourage Scholars to heal more, in addition to removing Energy Drain, we now also let Dissipation give Scholars 100 Aetherflow stacks so that they have more choices on how to use their Aetherflow actions.
Astrologian:
All cards now have the same effect and applies on everyone.
Developer comment: Astrologians have struggled with clicking on a party member to use a card. We have also seen in our data that most Astrologians struggle with memorizing 6 patterns after 2 years. Therefore, we have changed cards so that they all have the same effect and selection is no longer required.
Minor Arcana will be removed for a third time.
Developer comment: We feel that this action no longer fits the Astrologian identity. However, Minor Arcana will come back in 8.0.
Earthly Star now no longer has a wind-up time.
Developer comment: Earthly Star became too clunky to use because it had a wind-up time which made it difficult to heal in an emergency on an Astrologian. We have now removed the wind-up time and made it so that Earthly Star now instead pulses every 3 seconds to heal all party members for 3000 potency over 20 seconds. The cooldown has also been reduced to 20 seconds.
Sage:
Eukrasia will now become a trait. In accordance with this change, when casting Dosis, both the Eukrasian Dosis DoT and the Dosis cast will be used.
Developer comment: Sages have given us feedback that they felt that it was very hard to keep Eukrasia up in anticipation of using a Eukrasian combo spell. Therefore, we have made it a trait.
Sage will now gain new, separate actions:
Panholos (heals all party members within 500 yalms for 5000 potency and applies a 10000 potency shield, cooldown: 30s)
Panpanhaima (applies a 20000 potency shield on all party members within 800 yalms for a total of 200 stacks. When each stack is depleted, a 40000 potency shield is reapplied. cooldown: 10s)
Panpanpanpneuma (deals unaspected damage to all enemies in a straight line of width 900 yalms in front and behind you with a potency of 330 for the first enemy, and 40% less for all remaining enemies.
Additional Effect: Restores own HP and the HP for all party members within a radius of 1000 yalms
Cure Potency: 70000)
Developer comment: We wanted Sage to be a job for veteran healers who want to play a more challenging job. Therefore, we have given even more healing actions to Sage so that Sage has more to consider on which healing action to use at what time.
