Definitely a Double edged sword that will very likely work more against you than for you. The trolls around here behave as they do because they know nothing will happen to them.

If you want to get to them, just mention things you like about the game while following the rules. They absolutely hate hearing that while not having any ammunition to mass report you and get you banned.

This response is another example of why downvotes would be such an awful idea, and why upvotes should also be removed. Can't you see your own bias? This person is essentially stating that they feel anyone that criticizes the game is likely a troll because you'll be able to get at them by talking about how you enjoy the game?

You're all overdoing this. You make it out to be as if you're in some sort of mental war here on the forums. That's not what this is for.

There are people here that try their best to bait others, sometimes it's obvious, but there's a handful of people that want to be heard, and want to just talk about whatever.

Touché my friend, and I am sincere about that. I absolutely see my own bias, but where you are mistaken is by thinking I am unwelcoming to any and all criticism of the game. The comment I made targets a specific set of posters here. It's not aimed at those who have complaints about the game, it is aimed at those who hate that you have something positive to say about it. Hopefully you can see the difference there.

You can try to spend your time here by not playing sides, and being a mediator. It's a respectable position to try and take. However, there is a group of people here who will pick your side for you: Not theirs. These people exist in all the present factions of the forums. The question is will you continue to try and diffuse the tension at the cost of expressing your own views? Because it is rather difficult to give your own take on things without having a bias.

The thing is, I've seen much more constructive discussion on Reddit than I've seen on the OF. I don't know why but it's plain to see that if I was a dev, I'd look at Reddit first for feedback (which is probably what they do anyway).

Why would they go to reddit first? They don't control it. So the "constructive discussion" could be something that pins them negatively, like bad GMs or woefully small anti-botting team or their decision to be against ACT while trying to lower reports of it's use but not actually bothering to do anything to counter it.

And reddit is different because there is moderation from real people. This forum has nothing other than an automated system that seems to kick in randomly. Downvotes would only add to the nastiness.

It's no secret that trolls have overrun the forums, drowning out the actual legitimate feedback and making the OF a joke. It's basically common knowledge now.

My request is simple. Give us a downvote button, and if you wanna really go the extra mile, allow us to see the upvote/downvote score before clicking on the thread.

Also might as well throw in a request to report forum users for trolling.
