Wondering if they will put cross region data center travel eventually?

There have been instances of specific worlds going down, and avoiding the inconvenience by visiting another. There have been instances of specific data centers going down and avoiding that by traveling to another. So I'm not sure about this being true.

How many of these instances were planned and announced ahead of time?

As much as people are divided on this one, all they have to do is apply some restrictions (like no marketboard purchases maybe). I have plenty friends on NA, but I also want to do stuff and content that's based on my time (EU). Having the option to travel would save me proper sleep for once instead of staying up to 5 am.

This is just a speculation and I can't remember if they did/ever mention something about possibly making it so you could travel from NA to EU like the data center travel, but the reason why I'm wondering this is because I went on my XIV app for the first time in ages and noticed that they made it so I could see my previous friends list from EU since I played on EU for ages lol. I wonder if this is just something they added to the app or if it might be a poke in the direction of cross region travel, but I don't know, and want to know what others think of this. I'm just speculating though, I don't know if this would ever be a thing or if it's just a little thing they added to the app lol

Yes, I've seen it, and I really hope it will be added sooner or later. It would be my dream come true, even my NA friendos are excited for me lol

No thanks no, the JP don't want NA over there. And EU doesn't want NA either. You can stay in your own cesspool.

Uh, I have characters on EU and I get along with my friends there just fine. Plus, cross DC travel would make Materia less useless to have alts on as you could shift to EU or NA for content until it fills.
