I just got off work, im at least 12 hours behind. So im gonna get carriedThe other DPS said they were in a car accident a few days before and I'm not sure why they were playing lol. The healer did the dungeon in a Trust before joining our group, but didn't learn where to stand without the NPCs telling him.
One time all 4 of us stood in the ONLY spot that would result in a wipe for 3 or 4 AES overlap. If we were standing ANYWHERE ELSE, we would have lived. Got a good laugh out of it.![]()
Our Dark Knight tried to carry us one of the wipes but couldn't. Lamented he wasn't a WAR or PLD which could have finished it lol.
Ugh out of posts, but it was. We all went on classes we had under iLvl 625 gear on, so the gear dropping would be upgrades. (of course only Aiming gear dropped, and we had no Aimer...)Sounds fun - I think my main issue is always just gear sync is way too broad over time making everything SUPER easy for anyone behind on content and doing everything with cheap good gear.
I think the dungeon/normal/alliance raid balance on release is usually good otherwise.
I never first-time as a Healer, as I'm too embarrassed to be the reason we wipe. That said I don't really mind wipes. I'm sure in a few days this will be easy too once everyone learns it. We had a Summoner, but he died the same time as the healer every time as they stacked, so no rezzes.

Oh yeah i see also many deaths but not many wipes. If we take Cidolfus Orlandeau from the ivalice raids for example, before they nerfed him, if one party of the raid didn't do their job the whole raid would wipe. Or back then the first boss in dun scaith was a huge dps check, it was a timed fight that had a guaranteed wipe if people didn't deal enough damage or too many players died. Today what kills most people is the insane amount of foliage and grass when fighting Nophica.
FFxiv is getting easier and easier, ARR dungeons hit harder then the newest dungeons
have you considered that your own skill has improved? i know both can be true but people improve over time
Part of it could be the 4+ years you've spent playing the game already. Or, perhaps, your general familiarity with MMORPGs if you're a veteran of the genre. Gear level also plays a part in the ease of completion.
I'm happy you can breeze through the instances with little or no challenge. (I infer you deliberately ignored the new Criterion dungeon ... you failed to mention it at all).
For many, the game is at about the right level of difficulty. The MSQ has to be completed in order to move on to the next patch, so if an instance were more "midcore" (as you put it) there would definitely be a drop in the number of people subscribing.
Even story mode raids are meant to be completed by the majority of non-midcore players.
I want to assure you that if a blind and drunk moogle could actually get a subscription and a PC/console, they'd breeze through the game as well ... they do not need game controllers.
Both can be true. My FC and and I went back to try some ARR Hard dungeons (Because you never get them in roulette), and it was absolute chaos. It was so fun.

Go do min-ilvl Ivalice. Shit hits different. lol
I will say as a healer, some of the new content is certainly too easy. Like what is that first boss in Troia? Zzzzzzz. Sometimes random pugs comment how boring and dumb that boss is. I don't think I've seen a single wipe in that dungeon.
I have seen a couple wipes early on in the last dungeon (forget the name). Just because some people are slow to pick up on doom cleansing or handling water bubbles. But after the first few days I hadn't since.
I personally love when things become "hot messes" as it gives me some challenge. I cheer to myself when people die to all kinds of one-shot mechanics for the brief adrenaline of pausing in my glare-spam to get to revive. Once in a while I still get runs in World of Darkness where people have no idea how to do Cerberus or the first Eye boss, and those can be fun due to constant deaths and actually having to find time and mana to revive everyone and keep those still alive up.
This morning's new dungeon was fun as I haven't had a group wipe more than once in years. Again I'm sure in a few days that won't happen again, but it makes things more memorable.
I just wish more challenge came from the content itself though, and that it didn't just go away once people learn the memorization patterns.
