FF 7 remake for pc..

I believe it was said around the time of ff13-2's release that a remake of ff7 might not possible because they'd need to design and implement a new engine, which is how they justified the release of 13-2 because they already had the resources there to make the game.

that is exactly what I was thinking, which is why I wanted others opinions about it. But the main problem that I recall wasnt necessarily the engine, but was the limitations on the consoles due to the open world nature of the game.
