Restarting with a clean boot did it for me, thanks!

Once into the game, it running super slow (6fps) and is unplayable
The Mac meets spec:
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
3.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M395 2 GB
Previous to 6.4 it was running fine on Monterey 12.6
Has performed a complete reinstall of the client. Still performing badly

2015 computer considered antique by today's standard since tech has been moving up faster every year.
I would at least upgrade to an M1 Pro chip base mac. Skip the Intel chip.
The thing is we can still play with a Windows 7 OS from 2009, it's considered Antique only when it's Mac... cause we can only play with Catalina from 2019. That's really sad, and I find it quite unfair. Cause it's really expensive so maybe I'll have to stop playing if they don't fix that![]()

So despite trying everything (clean boot, upgrading OS, re-installing the game), the game just doesn't run as well as before 6.4
I can finally access the game, but the loading screen takes much longer than before, and the game itself has a lot of lag, with freezing instances.
Now, I'm using a 2013 macbook pro so I was expecting a day like this to come... but not before 7.0 and the major graphic overhaul. :/
My computer is a dinosaur in tech standards but against all odds it still ran the game perfectly fine before the patch update.
I'm way overdue when it comes to replacing my mac, but now is just not the good time for that, so I hope they manage to fix whatever broke the game after 6.4. :/

So the hot fix didn’t help my in any case. It made it worse, now I log into a black screen from which I can’t do much more. I’ll try to re-install the game after clearing all leftover files but other than that I’m out of options.

I was checking the macOS spec here; they recently updated this for the new version.

Recommended M1 or 2020 model higher now. Looks like you may have to upgrade your hardware at this point now.
Currently running on M1 Pro fine here.
What about the "XIV on Mac"? https://www.xivmac.com/my-mac-suppor...atibility-list
Looks like your hardware is beyond too old now. It's 10 years old 2013 MacBook Pro laptop = 20 years old desktop equivalent. Time to move on.

It is, and I know it.
But as I said in an earlier post, I was expecting this day to come. I just find it a bit frustrating that the devs didn't mention anything about suddenly upgrading the game so it completely refuses to run on older machines. Despite its age, my mac ran the game just fine before the patch. I would have liked a bit more warning.
Anyway, the price point of macbook pros these days is ridiculous, especially if you want a model that will be time-proof and will rival with gaming laptops.
So I've decided to purchase a good gaming laptop for half the price of macbook pro, and that will be able to natively run other games than FFXIV. My long standing loyalty to Apple ends here. XD
