Mac Launcher Frozen After 6.4 Patch Update

    Is the Mac launcher broken?

Mac client was working great before 6.4 patch. After installing the launcher update, I only see the splash screen. It looks like the boot.cfg file has changed. Changing browser from 2 to 1 shows a blank launcher instead of the splash screen.

    I'm running MacOS 10.13.6

Can you share with me what your ffxiv_boot.cfg says? It should be in Finder -> Documents -> My Games -> FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn

    Thanks!

I have problems too. The game crashes at the load screen, and if I do manage to get in, the game is extremely laggy, and if I click anything, it freezes again. It's so bad the only way I can shut the game is by shutting down the entire computer.

Tried re-installing the game, but didn't work.

Had no problems before the 6.4 update. :/

I have the exact same problem as you! I know mac is not an ideal way to play the game but it had been working without issues before 6.4.

I'm running MacOS Monterey 12.6.5 and getting the splash screen too.

Edit: Updating to 12.6.6 didn't change matters either

    Greetings Adventurer!

We would like to apologize for the issues you are experiencing regarding the Mac Launcher. We would like for you to try the following troubleshooting to see if this helps:

    - Update/reinstall your graphics card drivers (preferable a clean install).
    - Ypdate you Mac OSX software/firmware.
    - Disable all programs/overlays running in the background.
    - Make sure your anti-virus software has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV.
    - If you are using a freesync or G-sync monitor, please turn this feature off and make sure to set your frame limit to 30 or 60 FPS within the game. You may also want to limit the refresh rate on your monitor to 60 Hz should you have a high refresh monitor.
    - Perform a clean boot (instructions below)

Restart the Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key. The Apple logo should appear on your display. Release the Shift key when you see the login window.

Should the issue still persist after attempting all the listed troubleshooting, we advise that you uninstall/reinstall the game. If the issue still continues, please provide your Mac's full system specifications that are listed under the Apple icon > "About This Mac" section for further troubleshooting.

Thank you for contacting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Ok, I got it to work. I just had to update my MacOS. Apparently minimum MacOS is 11.1, so I had to bite the bullet and upgrade. It also states this on the system requirements page for Mac:

    https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/system_requirements/

Supported OS: macOS Big Sur 11.1, macOS Monterey 12.4, macOS Ventura 13.0

"* The System Requirements listed above are necessary as of May 23, 2023. Please be aware that they may change with future updates."

I just wish this was announced, rather than me having to dig around for the better part of a day to find it.

Restarting with a clean boot did it for me, thanks!
