SE's suggestion of disabling the PS5 controller in the sound settings fixed the issue for me even with DX11 turned on. I'm missing out on the dualsense haptic feedback but I can actually hear the game and play with max graphics settings again.

I'm also having this issue, but I don't have any sort of controller in use. I tried disabling my touchpad and other devices to no avail.
I have been having this issue as well, I tried removing my PS4 controller as a sound device but leaves my controller disconnected. I don't really know what to do, I just want to play this game.....
Same issue. Sound cuts out after about 10 minutes or so of playing. Would really prefer to play the game with audio.
same issue here since 6.4 patch came out
