No one told them to do it, they just did. Why? Because they care about the game as much as he does..more in many ways. I am, at times, utterly baffled by attitudes like yours. I submit you look for enemies where none exist.

It's not even ironic at this point to say that 80% of FF14 players are paypigs with Yoshi P as the findom papa.

Example: I loathed what Blizzard had done and I voted with my wallet. That IS the prerogative of every customer...so, by derivation, the fact the game is GROWING and so many new players are coming in, speaks volumes for the fact FF 14 has a broad appeal, which directly contradicts your narrative.

OF COURSE they make a profit, how do you think they pay their staff, pay their bills, keep the lights on and pay for the massive costs involved in making and maintaining an MMO. Profits are how they survive, those profits are DIRECTLY due to the fact so many enjoy their products.

Changes and updates are made all the time. See the 6.4 patch notes. Incidentally, a window that says "are you sure you want to desynthesis this item" is a good way of avoiding a ticket that says "Help I just destroyed my new weapon". I dont see an issue with that.

Contrary to you, i actually play the game and the servers are probably worst in the industry and thats with GW2 included which had a huge zone lag issue some years ago.
