You are not FFXIV. It's time that we realize our roles as consumers of a product made by a corporation for profit. If we fail to establish barriers between ourselves and the product, we become victim to a parasocial relationship whereby our money no longer has value.

It's perfect really. The best way to succeed in a capitalist society as a corporation is to act like you're on the side of the consumers and pretend to be best buddies with them. Yoshi P is far better at this than most other devs. While many corporations fail at this and make cringe ads and what is obviously corporate virtue signaling (like all the Pride flags), sometimes there are savants that succeed and enrapture many fans.

Really you can't even blame these people, Yoshi P is too good at his job.

Maybe one day when consumers in the gaming space realize that corporations are your enemy and not your friend, we would get better quality products.

For now, we just have to watch these savvy firms manufacture an image of themselves as something beyond capitalism, selling products that are more than mere commodities to make customers feel like they're engaging in more than a transaction, and therefore willingly pay much more for much lower quality products.

It's not even ironic at this point to say that 80% of FF14 players are paypigs with Yoshi P as the findom papa.

Thats an overly cynical..id say even bitter and nihilistic approach. A corporation is not a living entity, it makes no independent judgements, that is the purview of those who work for it. I have seen many companies, large and small, new startups and established businesses.

Why does it actually surprise you that many try to do their best..their customers are what keeps them in business, in case you had forgotten.

Id also say this is a very limited worldview, as evidenced by the massive disparity in how employees are treated in the US vs the rest of the world.

I find no "virtue signaling" in pride flags whatsoever. If their policies are in line with that mindset, more power to them.

Thats an..odd..idea at best. I seem to recall that treating others as ones enemy tends to get in the way of any meaningful rapprochement..its counterproductive, in fact.

YoshiP has done a damned good job and I for one respect what he has done, no one is perfect , agreed, but to my mind at least, he has shown integrity and passion for the game, is well aware that this world of Eorzea exists because of us, the man is himself a gamer at heart.

Yet FF 14 is a high quality game, well run, well supported and highly popular.

I see very little, if any , "low quality", as has been said no game is ever perfect ( if such a concept as a perfect game can even exist in the first place ), so I dont see how what we have ingame is any evidence of "low quality work"

i honestly dont know what vision you had for this game b4 shadowbringers shifted the game, but i can clearly see its coming from someone who honestly needs a break, lol a long one at that to be honest....wheather or not you care about awards, this game beat fortnite and apex on best ongoing game and best community support, so just because your vision of the game isnt shown in the game doesnt mean the game is doing horrible...the game is actually is keeping the same pace as the other xpacs where x.2-x.5 is where the xpac hoppers decide to do other things b4 the next xpac...and yea you think games like wow and apex have better support but i bet you, you barely seen the outcries apex legends had over the last 2 years with the biggest player drop last year since 2019 lol or pso2 where the game had to get remade since it was doing poorly after it dropped the ball on making a western port over 10 years after the fact lol so i get your anger towards the game and act like the game is "over" for you but i can clearly say its just you and maybe a few other forum pals who should just hang it up for good

People say things differently in game but they are still people. Food for thought here. How do you know you got that commendation because you left a good impression or because you sucked so much it was a passive aggressive “you sucked” trophy?

Be careful about feeling good for getting them lol.

But yeah a few of us are bored and unhappy the game isn’t innovating. Some of us have quit and it’s likely more of us will go if the game doesn’t get better in the future. For new players the experience is pretty good all things said.

The problem doesn’t start until you invested a lot in the game and there’s nothing to do afterwards because the devs made everything too easy to get. Then you ask for more stuff here and a bunch of people tell you to go play other games. That’s usually the story of this place.

What's the deal?

If you say anything bad in game like "stupid, idiot etc" you get banned for 3 days, then 7 and next perma ban. That's why nobody says anything negative in game and if they do they risk to get banned/suspended, of course there are trolls or people with 200 accounts that don't care about anything.

Not completely true as there are number of people still generally happy about the game that still post here and give out their concerns. I'm one of them. What I think the issue here is all the drama and negative andys diluting the feedback with hot takes, trolling, memes.

Although I will also both praise and criticize the forum moderators to allow the freedom for people to post and express whatever even if its overly negative, but also they need to at least start moderating and interacting more with the community if we want the forums to not be such a cesspool and more to be constructive.

But this is also the internet so even as I write this, no matter what, forum culture will always be forum culture anyway.

Still waiting for it to happen....again, its not that anybody actually ""wants"" ya'll to leave.
But it would just be nice if you say it, you actually follow through and do it. And we (or at least me) would rather see you guy do something more happy and healthy, then paying and playing something you dont like, and then sitting on the Forums constantly complaining...while still paying for something you dont like.
And then creating excuses for it.

I dont think raid lockouts is predatory. Housing and FC ownership for sure, although thankfully not many people own a house anyway. Please hoping that IS eventually fixes this, now that they're adding more housing features there.

Right, raid lockout isn't super predatory to me as an example, but I know it is enough for some.

I've taken the easier route and just do Normals now, I don't really see a reason to chase BiS or even do Savage because it's too demanding for what it gives back. I get the same feeling with Savage as I do a competitive game like CS:GO, except with CS it's easier for me to rank and hop in/out any time of day or week.

FFXIV is also my 1st "real" MMO (Im not sure if I count Runescape honestly) I am very much attached to it...but still, if it ever went down a road where literally "There is no saving it, its dead, I hate it, I find NO Joy Here"...Im out, Id leave. An FC, a House...there is nothing stopping me from leaving and canceling a Sub to a game if it no longer is fun.

I dont need a rationalization to keep me playing.

Anyway, you say that until it actually happens to you. I can imagine the people here saying this type of shit like "Yeah you just move on" will likely act the same way eventually. Even Atelier was similar - much better tempered, but still eventually went over the edge all the same.

I know, because of the fact that you aggressively interact with the community - Means you're likely quick to act in the opposite position as well. That's just how it is for folks like us.

Edit: It's also funny when I see WoW Players say similar shit too - When I know for a fact they prob made a huge stink on the WoW forums before they eventually quit. If you're loud, you're loud.
