I liked zenos![]()
I like that his motivation was just simple and he didn't care about the morality of it. He wanted the thrill of a good fight and damn everything else. I liked it

This is not what anyone thought back during Heavensward and Stormblood. Yoshi P himself has also only ever stated that they had to put in effort to emphasize FF14's identity as a FF on top of the MMO element.
It's only when the soy neckbeard WoW streamers with triple chins started to soy over FF14 when this mentality became normalized.
Zenos was the only good thing about this ancients jack off expansion.

What ruined Zenos was mid Stormblood.
They spent more time doing memory scenes with characters that died in post stormblood and we didnt have the same about a character so crucial in the end of the story.
Zenos had a complicated childhood. His art came from Corvos. He had to kill his instructor. His father sucks, etc.
Unfortunately, he had an amazing start and acceptable ending...his mid story is lacking in depth and content.
Zenos didn't necessarily ruin Endwalker, but he certainly didn't really do the story any favors.
Personally, I think Zenos was at his best when they didn't really dive too deep in to give him too much a backstory... When his only characteristic was breeding rebellions against himself, so he'd have people to fight because that was the only thing he actually enjoyed doing.

I don't feel like he ruined it for me. He travelled to the ends of the universe just to fight me and he earned my respect for that.
The final fight with him was fun, he kept me on my toes~! I also joke with my FC mates how that one part with the final cutscene with him was reminiscent of Street Fighter ldsakjsalkdjsakld
I do wish they'd fleshed him out more and gave him a bigger role, though.
Live by the Sun, love by the Moon~
Nope, Zenos was absolutely based. It was about time SOME person was self deterministic and put an end to Meteion's continuous [redacted]ation.

Zenos constantly coming back is basically a kids show in which the enemy comes back in every single show to be defeated again.
I love meteion as a character but shes literally the pigeon a magican pulls out of their hat at the end of a show going like "ha! cool isnt it!"
There was obviously hints at the final days, but we got baited into thinking Zodiark was the problem, there was nothing that pointed at a blue bird or another being.
There was no moment of "but a puzzle is missing" before Zodiark was summoned and defeated, our goal was always "dont allow Zodiark because bad", and within like 3-4h after, you are given the solution of a 10 year old problem, which was a plot twist that no one needed.
Zenos was awesome in Stormblood, not needed in Shadowbringers and annoying in Endwalkers.
The amount of "okay i guess this happend" you had to pull when Zenos shows up at Sharlyan, was not attacked by the joined forces ... was allowed to see the remaining crystals of hydealin and then had A the knowledge of where to go and B somehow was still able to tap into Shinryus form and C was able to reach the edge of the universe.
So the first Primals did hold back and deceided "yea i guess we only need X% of these crystals, lets leave the rest"?
My god, did Zenos really need to be in a flashback on the topic of FRIENDS for 6.4?
He's not our friend. At all.
