In ESO, you have bri’ish dudes (I swear they’re all from England idk how) dance as a female character and lure you in to give them money and dreugh wax and…it worksand then they teabag you for being thirsty and shame you and and I cry on the sidelines because I could actually /dance for some dreugh wax but my (leftover) dignity doesn’t allow me to and it’s just not fair how much richer they get for shaking their booty and I go in the sun and gather and work and it’s really hard…
Edit: thought of a solution, Ill just steal. Ffxiv should implement stealing from lalafels.

As someone who used to be active in Twitter's FFXIV community (I've long since migrated to a much safer and peaceful site whose FFXIV community is very much chill), I can definitely vouch for this. A good portion of the people in the FFXIV Twitter community are absolutely horrid and needlessly violent ...

Cool story, can I have your stuff?I started playing not too long ago after having been a MMO veteran for years and have always loved FF games. What from what I was able to experience the story telling is captivating and it's a great game overall as per usual. The reason I am no longer going to be playing is because of the community itself and not the game for once. This place is kinda disgusting... splinter d/cords, predators, abusers, un-hinged schizo's who never log off, and the clear lack of self-policing going on in the community. It looks a whole hell of a lot like league of legends from the outside.... Good luck and stay safe everyone.
regardless of whether it's a troll thread, good to see the forums proving OP right

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. Personally, I don't really do any socializing in the game and pretty much play it as a single-player game like any other Final Fantasy title. As you probably know, a lot of the dungeons required for the story can be played with Duty Support NPCs, although I vastly prefer to run group content with actual human players anyway. The random players I get grouped up with in Duty Finder are nice and cool 99.9% of the time, and I have fun engaging in some minor joking around with them from time to time. Worst case scenario is usually somebody just doesn't talk at all, or is kind bad at their job, maybe. Okay, a few trolls in Crystal Tower raids spinning the bosses around, but I think only half of them do it on purpose while the other half simply don't understand what they're doing.
My suggestion is, if you're having a bad time with some of these community groups, maybe ease off from taking part in those and try and just enjoy the game for what it is. Just that much is definitely worth sticking around for.
If you don't ERP/RP this game isn't for you
I was gonna agree with you since the game is far from good for new players, but the community is the thing that drove you off? The community, for all its faults, is actually good at pretending everything is awesome in game. Any mmo community you could think of is made worse by browsing stuff related to the game from outside. The other mmo's I play are filled with more complaining than playing. Not to say I personally don't do that here, but still.
