copium
that's what they said about sb and shb too
lmao why would they step it up
businesses care about profit, not revenue. making more glams incur costs and increase revenue, but letting modders to all their job for them decrease cost drastically, it's higher profits in the end.
it's like why so many games are so horribly optimized, like jedi: survivor. they do it because the gains in GPU tech from the rtx 40-series do not benefit just the customer. they allow businesses to exploit the gains to lower their cost of optimization and still maintain the same benchmark of 60fps (and still miss it anyways lol)
same thing here. modders allow SE to maintain the same "quality" of the product without investing that much into making things better. they're only paying lip service and implementing some third party features into the game right now and probably so that Sony, who probably isn't as informed as SE and the players are, thinks SE is committed to bridging the gap.
i'm pretty sure they genuinely don't care about third party tools and the numerous chastisements are PR to make it seem like they care a bit about cheating. they probably decided long ago in shb to follow the bethesda playbook and exploit free labor to increase the value of their product

I realize that some people who “play to have fun” and who currently form the majority of players have voiced their reservations toward these new trends, and understandably so. However, I believe that there will be a certain number of people whose motivation is to “play to contribute,” by which I mean to help make the game more exciting. Traditional gaming has offered no explicit incentive to this latter group of people, who were motivated strictly by such inconsistent personal feelings as goodwill and volunteer spirit. This fact is not unrelated to the limitations of existing UGC (user-generated content). UGC has been brought into being solely because of individuals’ desire for self-expression and not because any explicit incentive existed to reward them for their creative efforts. I see this as one reason that there haven’t been as many major game-changing content that were user generated as one would expect.

Unless there's something huge they're leaving out of the preliminary notes (I doubt it), this patch is going to be pretty underwhelming outside of the raids. It's a shame, I had started to build up some genuine hope for this patch. If this patch flops as hard as 6.3 did, 6.x will have truly been one massive disaster.
Well, the "6.4 will be better" copium seems to have failed, so I suppose it's about time for me to get on the 7.0 copium.

At the rate we're going, Island Sanctuary should be good content for the game by 8.4
I mean the writing was on the wall back in Feb 2022 when they did their 10 year plan live letter and basically gave a rundown of the 6.X patch cycles for the most part so I am not sure what people really expected outside of the norm. There is nothing here that is different to other patches in other expansions so I am not sure the issue here. Especially in the 'first half' of the patch, then again sadly the only thing il give you is the 6.45 patch will likely be met with disdain due to the relic is tomes path again occurring and a possible 'no reason to run the new variant dungeon' thread.
Shb had some fair share on QoL, but the main thing was the ARR Rework. However its not copium my dear troller that this patch cycle and expansion have released absolutely loads of QoL to the game system wise, UI wise etc etc. I feel even if I made a comparative post it wouldn't fit your narrative so I will just leave it there.

Only if they massively buff the EXP gain so you're not stuck for days waiting for your mammets to churn out enough EXP to level you up.
It annoys me so much that playing with the Spreadsheet of Doom earns you so much more EXP than actually engaging with your farm and gathering.
It's a slow grind, doesn't get easier on alts and they're locking so much glamour and things behind it.
In the gathering section I was adding ways to engage the animal and gather components differently, to empower gathering- personally had no issues with the exp side but that might be feedback to add.. when I get back into the states if someone hasn't beat me to it.
I had honestly powered through to rank 12 in like three weeks, a few times by brute forcing it and planning out visions and building rewards. Though through the experience I didn't like how it quickly became disengaged content. So I'd love to see suggestions on how to make it engaging for longer.

Selene isn't going away exactly, it's just there won't be separate summon buttons. If you like Selene's model, you can egi-glamour to her instead (or Carby - I bet this means all four colors of Carby, too)
The RGB slider thing may actually have future relevance if it's related to the graphics rework to hit with 7.0. Not sure if it is, mind you, but if it is, that could be why they're doing it now, to set that groundwork.
Lots of neat stuff in this patch. I'm still annoyed we have no Exploration Zone or actual Relic grind this expansion, though... but I am excited for the story. I'm sure it will be neat though with nothing exceptionally interesting (we already know we're going to the 13th to fight Golbez, the question is just the details of how exactly we get there and so on), though I suspect there will be the "7.0 hook" twist at some point, probably something unexpected as we finish the last quest in the series to set up 6.5 and the bridge to 7.0. Also interested to see the conclusion of the Pandaemonium story and what we end up learning of/doing with Laha and Elidibus.
So some good stuff, even if it's not as good as I might like it to be.
100% agree.Shb had some fair share on QoL, but the main thing was the ARR Rework. The interfaces have been refined.
This
will be extremely helpfulThe layout of the retainer exploration venture window has been adjusted to include a search feature and a venture history.
Gear sets can now be used from the beginning of the game.
Will be useful, especially for new players
Again, for new players this will be a godsend.A guide on using gear sets has been added to the gear set list.
How long have we been asking for this? When changing to a newly acquired job, players can now choose whether or not to transfer hotbar/cross hotbar settings from their associated class.
I have loved EW, the work the team has put in has been..immense.
