This would solve the glamour plate problem I've grumbled about for years. My favourite ponytail doesn't show the tail with hats, but I'd happily use the one that does if I had another hat with a beautiful "extension".

Let us attach hair styles to glamour plates! No, I don't care that going from short hair to long hair and back in an instant doesn't make sense, it also doesn't make sense that I can put on full plate armor in a flash of light either. It's magic, I ain't gotta explain shit.
I would rather you be able to attach hairstyle to a glamour plate than a gear piece.I mean, this is hardly a new suggestion, but playing through Tears of the Kingdom got me thinking…
A good chunk of the headgear in that game are just things like hairpins, that when equipped have your hair done in a different style.
In FFXIV, we have some hairstyles with scrunches headbands etc. Why not have an actual item (”Hairband”) that when equipped shows that particular hairstyle. If need be make the dye channel itself be the hair color.
It need not be too many, but especially since we have both glasses as items and fashion accessories, I don’t see why we neglect hair too.
TL;dr: gimme wigs.
This would be fantastic, but require that they redo not only the glamour system, but the CC as well. That's a lot of work that leans towards doubtful that they would put into the game at this point. This suggestion however is a great way to go around those systems though.Let us attach hair styles to glamour plates! Tbh, you can roll up long hair under armor.
So going from short to long hasn't been to jarring for me.
Unless the headpiece clearly couldn't hide all that hair under it.
Reminds me of Code Veins attachable hairs.
While not a significant portion of the topic.
I think having different variants to how hair looks like/peeks out from under headpieces or hats/helms would be nice.
Unless the Headpiece/Hat/Helm also gives you a piece/setbased exclusive look if you choose to keep it, or change to your prefered look as the hair peeks from under the headpiece.
Edit:
in a way, it could give some players a reason to not be shocked from sudden baldness or hair deletion from certain headpieces.
Like some of the ARR covers that look like swimmers caps but full head.

U have to handle some extra Kilobytes of data, to store extra hair/makeup settings. 20 y.o server hardware wont able to store such big amount of data.Let us attach hair styles to glamour plates! it's not that... its that the game at it's core is still a PS3 game... so still PS3 limitations. All they've done is give it visual facelifts to make use of newer and more powerful GPUs... >.>
No. Then you'll complain none of the dye colors match with normal hair colors.
Ooh, metallic red hair.
