The worst Scion

is the WoL.

The Warrior of Light is the worst character in this game. They can do no wrong. They can insult a clearly distraught introverted kid and the kid will somehow take it kindly. They have literally zero character development. They will get taken aback for the 300th time when someone tells them how much they mean to them.

Somehow this Scion will come up with all kinds of powers the moment the plot needs them to. But if the plot demands it, they will angrily stare at the villain, maybe take a step forward to show just how ANGRY they are, while the villain kidnaps an item or a person and ambulates off the horizon at three ilms an hour.

It's like this Scion is a self-insert for someone with zero self-esteem who needs to be praised by everyone every hour. But the game doesn't actually allow you to self-insert yourself into this Scion. You see, because the moment you want to disagree with Alphinaud on a decision or one of his many monologues, the game doesn't let you. You can't tell Alisaie to chill out before she gets into trouble. You can't criticize Thancred for how he treated Ryne. You can't express what you think of the Garleans or the Ala Mhigans unless another Scion explicitly asks you, and then you are given two non-offensive options. Playing the WoL doesn't feel like playing a self-insert character. It feels like playing a mute paragon with a specific personality and outlook the writers forced on you.

As much as I would like more choices that I would personally make...making a story focused MMO that branches out for all the different personalities would be a tremendous amount of work.

The closest to that would be The Old Republic but the only need to really write for "you are a saint or you are a jerk".

Then sprinkle on flavor text for middle ground stuff...which that alone is a ton of work cause it's voice acted and multiple dialog options.

However that MMO is modeled after their other similar single player games so they had the experience. They just took a single player game and made it an MMO.

SQEX took an MMO and made it single player. I agree I rather have it the other way round though.

G'raha Tia after 5.3. He is Alphinaud (studious, nerdy, young brother deuteragonist and the man with the plan) but in a catboy body. He competes with Alphinaud for screentime since they are both the same character and fulfill the same role in the narrative. Should have gracefully bowed out of the narrative as the much more respectable Crystal Exarch in 5.3.

After G'raha, I'd almost say Y'shtola, for constantly putting down other people and for repeated bullcrap survivals.

There is also Krile, who is utterly useless and could be removed from the narrative and you would lose nothing, but I guess she isn't as irritating as the above two Scions are.
