    Chocobo Updates

    Hey Friends! It seems like the only new thing we get for our Chocobos is barding, which is a shame. I think they could do so much more, here are some suggestions that would be cool in my opinion.

    The main thing I think would be cool is adding jobs for your chocobo it doesn’t have to be anything crazy. Each job can have 5 levels and it could follow the progression of: weaponskill > stat buff > utility > stat buff > stronger weaponskill. This is what I really want the most as it could add some more customization, and plus we already have most of the job barding in the game.

    Another thing I think would be cool(although highly unlikely) is if we could take our chocobo into older content, I.e: eureka, bozja, deep dungeons, treasure etc. I think it would definitely put an interesting twist on all this content.

    Really I just want my feathered buddy to be more involved, the game paints them as this lifelong companion but I feel like I barely get to use them anymore aside from fate grinding. Anyway that’s my piece, thank you for reading

    It is a little sad that the progression for chocobos ended in ARR. They are handy when an expansion drops and a player is grinding FATEs solo or in a group of non-healers. I'm not sure what they could add. They already level up with you, so more levels isn't the answer. It might be unbalancing to give them stronger heals or damage. It would be nice if tank stance actually held hate though.

    More aggro generation for tank stance, yes please. Especially now that real tanks generate SO much aggro, it should be easy to place the Chocobo somewhere in between dps players and real tanks.


    I would like to see another dps stance added with magical ranged attacks, so the chocobo does not have to stay in melee range all the time and gets eaten by AoEs.

    It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.

    Well that’s why I suggested a separate 5 level job system. It would be separate from the rank system so you’re not gated by the onions. As for balancing I don’t think that would be too big of an issue given that we have something like BLU, and at the moment chocobos can only be used in the overworld

    Honestly same, I’d be fine with these changes. Also I’m trying to have buddy spam Choco Meteor

    I guessing the reason they haven't bothered updating chocobos is because, what would be the point? The open world is already easy to the point where you don't need the chocobo in the first place. Why would they bother adding new abilities, skills, mechanics, etc to an already pointless and outdated mechanic? (see also, new GC ranks.)
