    Wow! Customer support is so worthless!

    I sent an email to customer service asking one very simple question. "When a character is deleted, how soon does that character name become available for someone else to use?"
    I got back a form letter that literally had nothing to do with my question. So i replied to that, said there form letter had nothing to do with my question, and I restated my question. Then I got this back...

    What garbage. A more honest response would have been "This individual representative does not know the answer and can not be bothered to make inquiries to find out. Good luck loser. "

    They always reply that lol they don't give a damn. Reported someone once for an important matter I had all the proof + a witness everything was in place for them to take action and they replied with the exact same thing as your question

    Support for XIV is terrible. I have heard this a million times but never experienced it firsthand till about a month and a half ago. I was clearing EO solo 4x to get the mount. I had a clear complete on MCH and was working on a RDM clear for giggles. I got to floor 100 with over 10m left. I got the message saying you received an orthos tomestone. I then apparently stupidly decided to take pictures of the occasion. I had no idea at the time the servers were having authentication issues. I was booted while I was taking pictures. My clear was set to failure and I did not receive the tomestone. I contacted support and told them the situation and the fact I was booted due to server failures indicated on the lodestone during the time I completed the run. They gave me the run around for 1 month saying they were "investigating". They never actually got back to me so I finally sent another message and was told sorry we aren't going to do anything for you.

    The answer, as far as I can tell from my own experience, is "immediately".

    No need to ask Customer Service since your question was not related to topics related to "My account ...". You query customer service when money is involved.

    I mean, they do answer questions like this, but they shouldn't need to. You can usually just ask other players or google it.

    GMs need to focus on dealing with harassment and rule breaking, not "how do I do x, y or z without googling it". They probably got tired of answering people's questions when that isn't their main focus, and decided to push them back to asking players and reading FAQs.
