Kill off all the Scions before 7.0 except for a couple.

Or else the next arc for this next upcoming expansion is gonna do a terrible job hooking us back in. We've had way too much fake out deaths. There were so many opportunities for one of the scions to die, but then they're just fine.

Y'shtola should have died during Stormblood, but it seems Zenos slapped her with a wet noodle instead.

Thancred should have died during Shadowbringers, since he has completed his entire character arc, redeemed himself, matured, and could of went out like a complete chad.

G'raha Tia should of died during 6.3. I cried during that scene, and it would of been a very nice send off, to talk about fulfilling those wishes for him to travel with us even though deep down, we know we couldn't. Would of been another huge Haurchefant death moment. That would of completely broken us emotionally and I'm just a complete masochist.

Also, the "deaths" during Endwalker's climax was just a "Oh no they're dead now! Anyways..." and made it so obvious that none of the scions are dead. When Emet Selch brought them all back, I just laughed. It was so unintentionally funny.

They need to stop with this. They're faking out so much deaths, I'm still so convinced that I think Zenos is still alive in some way. That's how bad this story is handling deaths right now. I have zero trust with any deaths that happen unless it's a death that's happening to a random NPC character that was introduced 5 minutes ago.

It's like Yoshi P knows that you're all a bunch of snowflakes, and he just doesn't want to hurt your feelings. But I want my feelings hurt, because I'm gonna be so bored from the lack of tension from the story.

But why kill them all off?I suppose for a good story and so forth. You could kill off some of the others that remain but why why pull all of what would be the point other than to stop the dying come back if you will? Would you not want at least 1-2 Scions alive for story purposes?

They really took inspiration from FFIV for Endwalker, every character gets a fake out death. I remember a bunch of people saying they could give newbies an option to start from this new story arc for an easy way to catch up but that's not going to be feasible if they just reuse the same characters anyway. No one would know who any of them are, this doesn't feel like the start of a new story, it feels like the same old Scions running around saving the world. What does it matter if the Scions were disbanded when we're with the same characters anyway? They just can't let go. Unless they let go of the Scions I have no faith this story is going to go anywhere interesting. As the TC and many others have pointed out, the Scion's stories are done, they should have ended where they did but since the devs just can't move on, we have the same old characters hanging around until the end of time with nothing of interest left to explore with their characters.

I thought Zenos was a great villain for base Stormblood but how they brought him back immediately and how he just kept hanging around in the background doing nothing made me hate him. For basically two whole expansions he was just running around in the background, absolutely dreadful writing on that part.

You completely missed the point of Ultima Thule. The Scions are fine. I think I will be looking forward to new characters in 7.0 that can have their own stories and (potentially) deaths if it is actually warranted, but there's really no reason to kill off characters for the sake of nothing.

Estinien, G'raha and Krile are sort of new to the scion thing so they could stay. Graha being WoL simp is terrible though, miss the old Exarch character.

Send Thancred to the First to take care of Ryne.

Urianger is good set in the moon with the bunnies.

Yshtola could die many times already, but I see why Square Enix dont want to let her go, shes sort of the face of FFXIV, so whatever lets give her a pass.

Send the twins anywhere far far away I dont care where, im tired of their "we dont give up" speech at every chance they get.

well i know i am nitpicking here but this line just bother me alot. Emet never brought them back. what Emet and Hythlodaeus did was removing Meteion dominion of Ultima Thule or at least weaken her effect on it
thats why Emet said (In case the practical implications were lost on you, your comrades no longer need fight their fight. So, go on. call them back to your side.)

It was a fusion magick from Azem crystal and Hydaelyn that brought them back.

Again I know that i am just nitpicking here :P

Yes, because the perfect way to fix previous story blunders is to immediately kill off a multitude of main characters in any manner possible.

I dislike the Scions lack of diversity and the lack of developments in their characters, but this isn't the answer. Regardless of how you write it, it has to be done right, otherwise you're just making a bigger mess than the one you're criticizing right now.

Plenty of characters could have been made permantently stuck in the first. It still allows some interactions, but restricts a lot there. This can create conflicts and require some creative ways to get around. But these issues are what add depth to a story.

The 'everything is fine, the end' part doesnt work in a story that continues on, as it just doesnt end. Killing some characters (or mortaly injure them) is a good way to ensure that a character for several expansions wont be showing up. As this means that their 'expertise' is no longer available to be used, and this forces creative ways to work around the issue, including its risks.

The point where this started to fail was in post ShB where all scions could be transferred to the source as if nothing happened. And worst of all is, story wise the hildibrand questlines already got better plot twists...

It would be ideal to have them as side characters or otherwise.

It isn’t as much that bothers me seeing them altogether (no matter how cringed), it’s just the fear that it’ll be repetitive with yet another possible “organization” that would still mirrors the Scions all the same (no matter the title or whatever).

Still hoping for new characters to be introduced for 7.0 & totally divert away from anything Scions related etc.,
