Bad lag again with NTT's NA server network

In regards to my post last night, I have researched VPN's and which games allow them and which ones don't. Since FFXIV is not the only game I play, I have decided not to install a VPN. I shouldn't have to and I'm not going to try to remember to turn one on/off when I play other games. This is absolutely stupid, y'all. My sub expires 05/23. I'll be back when/if they get this resolved.

I don't blame you for wanting to cancel/let your sub lapse. It's ridiculous this is going on. If I didn't have a MD house and didn't already use a VPN anyways, I'd probably do the same.

One thing you can consider is finding a VPN that uses split tunneling. What this does is let you specify which programs you want to use the VPN and which ones you don't. So for example you can tell it to use the VPN connection for FFXIV, and to not use it for COD or GW2. You can also go the other way, telling it to use the VPN for everything except certain programs.

I have service through Sonic that uses an AT&T Fiber connection.

AT&T refuses to talk to me directly.

When notified by Sonic, AT&T refuses to look at anything beyond my direct line connection to my home.

There is literally no recourse for me here and the Sonic folks even suggested I might have to switch ISPs to resolve this.

One semi-okay workaround is using Cloudflare's "VPN" WARP which is free and is available at http://1.1.1.1. It's not great but it gets around the problem and I trust Cloudflare more than most of these random VPN providers.

Thank you for your cooperation as we look into the recent network delays and/or packet loss experienced by some users playing on the North American data centers.

While our investigation is still ongoing, we've been able to confirm that the issues are caused by a network connection somewhere between our servers and those affected, rather than the FFXIV servers or equipment themselves.

At this time, we've forwarded a request to the relevant network carrier to locate the root of the issues; however, we believe it may expedite the investigation if those affected were to notify their internet service provider, which we understand some of you have already done. We apologize for making another request of those experiencing the recent network issues, but would be grateful if you could also report the situation to your internet service provider so that they are aware as well.

Shortly after this started I contacted AT&T. They sent a tech out to my place, dude shrugged and said there wasn't anything he could do other than replace my gateway (which he did, and thankfully I wasn't charged). AT&T support followed up and basically said it wasn't their problem and that I needed to contact Square instead.

52 pages of forum thread with boatloads of data, likely quite a few support tickets sent in with even *more* data... and we're told to contact our ISPs.
Here's my daily bump of "Still broken without CF Warp turned on", I guess.



So much for hoping for a resolution before 6.4 drops. I was considering resubbing since I can play fine w/ Warp, but given the abysmal communication I'm honestly tempted to just leave my sub canceled and move on until we get an actual resolution. The new Guilty Gear Strive character is coming out this weekend and Street Fighter 6 is close as well. At least I can play those games without needing a VPN.

only reason i've still been able to play the game last week is because i was already familiar with the content and was able to preposition to avoid damage despite the lag

Thank you for the update. AT&T has already been contacted by myself and I know others have as well based off their posts here. Unfortunately, most of us are reaching a wall with them as they require us to bring a tech out (for no reason, since it's not a gateway or fiber line issue) and that costs almost a hundred dollars to do. Not an expert, but it seems obvious the issue is with the lsanca07 and scrmca03 NTT nodes - and I doubt calling AT&T about NTT nodes would help. (Edit: of course, it doesn't hurt for more people to call and put pressure. That's for sure.)

Regardless, AT&T has had my tracerts and feedback since day 2 of this issue.

I don't believe it does, no. At least, not the version I'm using. Just a big on/off button.
