Bad lag again with NTT's NA server network

NTT latency problem started early-evening today (Eastern Time).
Spectrum Internet is fine until it hops off to NTT in Atlanta.
>200ms ping (usually <100).

Fixed by using VPN (Nord) and connecting to a few different locations until I got a connection with no packet loss.

Spectrum routing through Atlanta, then to NTT drops many packets and causes major latency and gameplay issues. VPN to Charlotte seems to be better (125ms ping and no packet loss)

Just want to add to the pile by saying that since 6.45 dropped, the game has been unplayable ... I get a solid 1 to 2s delay on every action in 4-men ,8-men and beyond is a rubber band nightmare.

I'm wired and every other online game I play is doing just fine so I'm gonna guess the new update changed something that added me into the pile of folks being unable to have a decent experience.

EDIT : Used a VPN to change my connection, seems like Texas is doing the trick but sheesh, please fix this Square, I don't want to have to pay for a VPN that I'll only use for your game.

The past week has been really hit or miss with playing. Getting pings in the 1000 to 3000ms range when doing trace routes. At what point do players start getting compensated for dealing with this. Last time it was a few weeks and had to pay for a VPN to play the game normally. This time it has been about a week with no improvement. NTT is clearly not a good choice for routing with the server.

I noticed a lot of lag spikes last night that started shortly after midnight EST. FF14 game play keep doing short freezes from it. I thought it was just FF14 but it wasn't limited to just them. Even my pings to Google and Cloudflare DNS jumped. It all seems to have cleared up about 3pm today. Not sure if this was an AT&T problem or what. It's one of those things you don't notice with normal Internet browsing or video watching but do notice for online gaming.

Can say the on & off drops from the handoffs in Virginia (Asburn) still continue to happen. (While I'm unsure why my ISP wants to route my SC traffic north 2-3 states up instead of west into Atlanta is beyond me). Is worth noting the hand off is through Cogent Communications (provider whom my own ISP hands off to) ;from what I can gather peers through the same things AT&T does and I imagine possibly Spectrum.

Regardless, seeing strings of packet loss through NTT *still* should say something. While not every issue may be NTT's, I highly believe 99% of the issues belongs with them and the multitude of handoff points they have across the country.

Would also like to add, not seeing a follow up from SE of any kind since May 26th is disheartening to say the least.

i recruited a friend to play with me and just wanted to log in tonight to have them join my fc, but the game is 100% unplayable for me right now. really glad that a broke college student can just throw their money away as well as spend even more on a vpn, only to be disconnected and deal with the rubberband runaround s**** for two days in a row. this is a nightmare. i don't have a lot of time to play but it seems like this is only happening during my only opportunity to do so. there's going to be a lot of people who deserve free play time after this. maybe the upcoming maintenance will fix this ridiculous issue.

SE, you have more money than god.

invest in a decent infrastructure for the servers already.

i really am disappointed and very frustrated with this outcome. i have a lot of ground to cover in-game and was looking forward to introducing it to a newcomer. thanks for ruining my experience once again i guess.

From about July 13th until today, things seemed fine, hence my lack of complaining. lol A little intermittent lag here and there but nothing major, like it was before. Today is full on stop-motion animation several times in any given duty, even early this morning! But for some reason, I’m not seeing the lag outside of dungeons as much as last time. I can still run through crowded areas without much issue. Every now and then I see the pokeball above my head like I’m going to DC but I never actually do. Guess I’m back to running and submitting tracerts again.

Yeap, current routing through NTT servers makes the game completely unplayable for me. Guess it's time to cancel my sub and play something else...
