As the original author of this thread..... yes I can confirm it's back and it's exactly how it was when this originally started.

As you can see the ping times started to go up at about 12:30pm EST. The packet loss starts at 2pm EST. My VPN is stable so good thing I still have that.

Anyone wondering, I use Private Internet Access for my VPN and use the US Silicon Valley node.

Might want to get NTT to take a look at their San Jose node.

Screenshot of when the server connection crashed on Primal.

Adding my voice in here. I am also an AT&T customer and I am East coast. Up until today I was running around 75-85ms steadily for nearly a year and now as of today when I do a check, I am around 130-135ms. Pretty big jump.

It was like this before around a year ago and contacting AT&T as an individual will do nothing. I have tried. Square Enix needs to contact AT&T (or NTT if they are responsible from what I am reading in the thread) and tell them it is affecting their customer base to be taken seriously (something an AT&T told me when I was on the call was that they can't do anything from the individual complaints on their end) or figure something out like they did before. When this happened a year ago, I remember there was a big announcement at some point and then something Square did fixed it. I am hoping that SE will fix it quickly this time.

The only temporary solution is to pay for a VPN until SE contacts AT&T -- or NTT as I've come to learn from this thread -- again to work things out like however they did it last time when it was big enough they put out an announcement. I did this before and it worked well to bring my numbers from around 130 down to around 90. I used mudfish since it was the cheapest I could find.

Yep, I've noticed the same issues as well.
This only happened with the 7.05 Hotfix patch that went live today, so it's odd timing.

In 2023, it was bad enough that some gaming news sites ( https://gamerant.com/final-fantasy-1...spikes-issues/ ) caught wind of it.
Can confirm that a VPN like PIA and other similar services are still effective workarounds in the meantime.

In short, put the pressure back on Square Enix and NTT to diagnose and fix things as quickly as they can, and report your traceroutes here on the form page that SE posted last year:
    https://support.na.square-enix.com/c...382&la=1&fty=2

EDIT: I should clarify that I'm an AT&T customer as well, and that my latency went from 145ms down to 80 to 90ms with a VPN, with the latter being a more "normal" latency before today's 7.05 hotfix patch.

But yes, moral relativism and all that. Case in point - I do not consider you to be truly alive. Ergo, I will not be guilty of murder if I kill you.

So... are we going to address this or...?

Edit: An alternative way to circumvent this is using a VPN (like ExitLag to San Jose) to circumvent this problem. Yet, I shouldn't be paying extra just to play this game, because a certain ISP company (NTT *cough*) can't seem to get their priorities straight. :\

Edit #2 (12:00 AM EDT) - Just finished raiding with my raid group and two other members had the same exact issue that I did, but at different times. They were forced to use VPNs just to circumvent the issue.

+1 for NTT issues. And while the CA hops seem fine enough I'm curious why...

    A) I'm seemingly being routed through Miami before suddenly jumping to the other side of the country?
    B) These nodes are the worst of the bunch?

I can confirm VPN (Cloudflare's WARP specifically) at least provides enough stability to play, even if it's not ideal. Got me through last night's 2002 outage that people thought was local to TX and Spectrum's fault and today's wild spikes of lag. It also seems like at least a small portion of the issue is on Twelve99/Arelion as it looks like they handle the hand-off from Spectrum to NTT and I'm seeing some dropped pings from them as well.

Edit - I don't know why the screencap of the tracert isn't posting, so heres the text version:

Yeah, I ran another trace route and it's 100% Sacramento and San Jose. NTT's notorious for Sacramento, but now not just one node, but two? Honestly SE should reconsider who to run with Internationally if it keeps getting this bad. Running on Spectrum and can see that this issue is localized to NTT.

I'm just going to keep putting this here every day this problem keeps existing.

I'm not getting affected by this, since I'm forced to use a VPN now. However, my raid members are getting hit with this issue. Trace Route again showing...

San Jose node is continuing to fail with NTT and in result will continue to have players believe this is a "DDoS issue" from malicious people.

In actuality, this is a server infrastructure issue that's failed to be addressed for over a year and continuing.

At this point some of us may not have a choice either. What VPN are you using and do you like it. This issue is getting insanely infuriating...
