Yeah I'm getting small lag, but it's very sporadic and most of the time it's running perfectly. I'm afraid to get too optimistic yet, but I'm enjoying the lag free moment lol.
It's 3 different programs on Linux.
Telegraf that does the pinging and sends the results to a second system called InfluxDB which is just a database to store that data. The graphs are generated using the third program called Grafana which just reads the data from InfluxDB.
I use all 3 for lots of other things so I just started monitoring the FF14 server lag with them as well.
Ahhhh, well that explains why it's so pretty, lol. Thank you.
Oh damn! Got home from work later than usual and rushed to log on and only just now realizing that I forgot to enable my VPN and have been playing lag free since 7:30pm Central time no VPN and it's now 1:30am. Zero lag, even ran duties as healer. Can't believe I didn't realize this till now. U.U Hopefully this shit storm is resolved now for everyone.
Chiming in at 11:10 or whatever, found a freeware program called Ping Tracer from github that pings per second and graphs it. The ping to Crystal Coeurl (204.2.29.104) has been consistently sitting at 63-66ms. It's a little higher now than it was yesterday night/early morning today, but not bad not bad. I'll be playing the game with no VPN and seeing how it behaves.
This is weird. It's doesn't impact my game play but just weird.
So I always got around an average of 56ms ping while playing up until sometimes early April around I think the 7th when it just jumped to an average of 62ms. After yesterdays fix my averages went back to 56ms then I saw this jump at 5:09am (EST) when it went back to 62ms. I would be really curious as to what change they made to do this. It's just weird.
Also this graph of the entire time span of the problem from May 15th till this morning.
Edit: The problem is not fixed. As of the 27th @ 1pm EST, pings are back up to 100+ms

I would also really like having that sub 60ms back. It was so nice to see under 60 for once lol. I agree, hyper strange, they be doing things with them cables and settings no doubt!!!
Just ran a ping command on both the lobby server and the Aether datacenter IP addresses, and both came back at 58 ms across the board for me with zero packet loss.
Encouraging to say the least. However, it is a holiday weekend (Memorial Day), so whether travel has any tangible effect on network traffic or not, I don't know.
But yes, moral relativism and all that. Case in point - I do not consider you to be truly alive. Ergo, I will not be guilty of murder if I kill you.
Latency is spiking again, I'm seeing a lot of spikes starting at 12:07 that are hitting 100ms+ and it's jumping all over the place, with minor packet loss starting to occur.
Yeah, I don't know, they clearly fixed the issue and are doing garbage now. I'll be going back to Mudfish for stability, don't want to risk anything whilst it's doing this now.
