That's because just about every time they have tried doing something different in FFXIV, players ended up disliking it. So they are sticking to the same old formula that they know works.

And at the same time when they make the same old content... Players disliked it. So the argument is moot. Players are going to dislike anything done so at least try to make the game interesting instead of boring everyone in an exercise of futility in trying to appease those people who go out of their way to complain about everything in hopes of getting 5 seconds of internet fame.
