    I'd like to leave the armor as it is, but add the ability to level each specific elemental def bonus on it. by fighting mobs that use the specific E. dmg that you want to focus on. once you've leveled the armor part 100% for all elements, it turns into "untradable" if it's not already, after a big fat warning ofc, but after that, you can choose what element you want to defensively focus on before you equip it.

    maybe the amount of E.def should scale to the native amount of Def the part has. just an idea.

    we were OP with magic def & back when we had a manual shield people were able to tank lv99's before the stat change.
    All the magic defensive stats we have are very minimal, and altho i would agree that magic def was broken and OPed us, I would disagree with thinking that we are fine the way things are. Again, there should be no reason why the damage taken by an elemental attack on a tank should come close to that of a mage or dd. As far as the elemental resist materia, Off the top of my head I can list several problems with this as an option

    1: it is placed in slots that vit, and or def would otherwise go, making it unreasonably difficult to build gear to prepair for any boss fight.

    2: to be prepaired for every type of elemental fight you would need several diffrent sets of armor

    3: from my own test, the materia would need a MAJOR boost in stat effect or number. As a double melded fire resist (teir 3) proved to make very little differance on the actual elemental damage taken from Ifrit's Inferno. After adding fire reisist in every possable slot i managed to build an additonal 156 fire resist , wich did make a noticable differance but left the physical defense aspect of my gear extreemly weak, ultimatly was not worth the trade off as ALL boss fights currently deal more physical damage then magical damage overall.

    simply put, even the slightest increase in magic def and/or the ability to build magic def, like we can normal def on gear, would be an aspect that should be part of the game, at the very least they could keep everything the same, and give us back capes like in ffxi that had +20 somthing elemental resist of every element on it. they already have the capability to add this , you should notice a complete list of elements and a space with the number 0 to add a value in wich would either increase or decrease resistance to that particular element all they would need to due is add an apropriate number value to each peice of gear to bring back magic def.
