It just got interesting. What do you do when someone hunts you from match to match. And if you hunt someone, then for what reason?

In CC? Just kill them. If you can't then kite them around and make them waste their time.
In FL? See above but also put a marker on their head. A nice big 1 will let your team know this person is out of formation and making bad choices.
You probably did something that hurt their feelings lol. I legit will requeue on the same job as people who squat/etc me. FAFO~
Sometimes you get someone with a hateboner for you, either because they dead set decided that they need to suppress your role at all costs (like if you're playing certain ranged jobs), or either because you pissed them off enough. In both cases you need to be smarter than them and find their weakness or the trick that works against them. Every time that kind of player becomes extremely predictable as soon as they come for you, and after dealing with broken bones once or twice you eventually learn how to deflect their one trick pony.
( caveat: this doesn't work against monks as squishy ranged players unless you have a pocket healer )
Yes, it really does work. Usually I just kite them and bring them to my party, right into the crowd.
Dueling at the same job is a sport that I still don't understand. Because why don't they just do their job...
Monk is a problem when they have the LB ready. Often they hunt with a ready LB, usually I kite them, get them into the crowd of allies, get my LB and finish them off in the back. But it is very distracting from the main work. Because sometimes the LB, which should fall on a priority target, has to be spent on them. In addition, team members often do not react to an unfinished target and simply let them escape, focusing on a tank, for example.Sometimes you get someone with a hateboner for you, either because they dead set decided that they need to suppress your role at all costs (like if you're playing certain ranged jobs), or either because you pissed them off enough. In fact, it is always strange for me to see such manifestations, especially when hunters have more serious goals, and some of them endanger the entire team. I'm still looking for some reasonable explanation for this...
It really depends. In FL it sometimes just happens but is usually bad play choices regardless. In casual CC sometimes it's doing your team a solid by shutting down your mirror job. But if you queue the same job as a griefer there's a good chance you will get to play them again.
Yeah Valence MNK like to do that a lot. Pick the "biggest threat" and sit on them or die trying. xD
In these cases everything is clear, really thank you for the confirmation. However, for example, a paladin is not my mirror job. I can understand when a monk or ninja is chasing me as a summoner or machinist, trying to prevent my LB or increase my resurrection timing so that I am dead at the decisive moment. But a paladin who drops everything and runs after me in circles and then uses LB to survive standing in a turret with DoTs or spends time in a stun instead of giving LB to their group that is trying to counter my team, I don't get it. I also don’t understand why this scenario is repeated over and over again, a person runs after me, dies, runs again, and so several matches, the same madness. In other words, what the heck? I'm asking because maybe there's something else I'm not considering other than simple aggression. It really depends. In FL it sometimes just happens but is usually bad play choices regardless. Hmm, maybe they're new. Standing in the turret is a pretty big mistake. Chasing and harassing is pretty normal for paladin but you don't really want to sticky target people so it's probably just a new player or new to the job at least. I don't think you're missing anything in this case.
Thank you, now it's clear. Here's another detail. If they fail to kill the chosen victim, and they run in circles, then both teams lose one fighter. Because the victim and the pursuer are busy running around. If both teams are strong, then it is not significant, but if their team is weaker, then this is a significant loss for them. And in this case, running the intended victim can simply troll them.Hmm, maybe they're new. Standing in the turret is a pretty big mistake. And one more thing. What do you do when you see someone on your team being hunted? Under what circumstances do you help to be saved or leave to die? Cases of outright stupidity are not taken into account. I usually try to help if someone is targeting a second caster, ranged, or healer, unless I need to push the crystal, to protect the crystal spot or whoever is pushing it.
Good monks usually pop out of nowhere with the LB and have been watching you to pick you off without exposing themselves too much. Doing the LB trick when you're already getting pummeled is asking to die without any result and a wasted LB.Monk is a problem when they have the LB ready. If you play on diam/crystal usually though, I rarely see unfinished targets with low resources not being immediately focused there. Sometimes they still get away because they play it well or have good backup from allies, but hell you get focused so fast when you make yourself vulnerable at higher ranks it's ungodly.
People need to help. Even at crystal level people don't always do it (esp the hotshot melees that can't give a crap about their backline), and it's crippling. Helping an ally not only can suddenly punish hunters/chasers/harassers hard for being too cocky, which can result in a death and a loss for the opposing team for little gain, but it's also psychological, and on top of it throws the harasser into being confused and not sure what to do next. It deters them from further doing it, which leaves more breathing room for your ranged players and peels the raiders off their hides. Also it builds team cohesion even if just for a game only. And one more thing. What do you do when you see someone on your team being hunted? The only times where I don't always do it, especially as a non healer, is when retreating and you have the whole enemy blob on your ass. Staying a little back to help somebody that's probably going to get rolled over anyway, is usually fruitless, and I've died way too many times for being too nice with that.
