SE chickened out on Zero

We had the chance of have a non-humanoid companion for once in the MSQ (a la Red XIII from ff7 or Quina from ff9, etc), a powerful Voidsent even... instead we have an emo hyur girl tipping her hat at every chance. WHY? Why could they even do it?

• They though people are 5 years old that gets scared to look at a voidsent for too long?
• They wanted to pander at all costs to the LGBT people with the androgynous girl theme?
• Get more merchandise/glamour out of her?

Really, I dont get the reason

Yawn. Don’t care, doesn’t matter. 6.4 is almost here and we’re all hyped for it. We all like Zero and we’re tired of the complaint threads. FFXIV is the best MMO, better than WoW, and one of the best games ever made. The story will be great as usual, we’ll all enjoy Golbez or whatever the hell, and Zero is the new Scion. Don’t need complaints.

Honestly, the only thing Zero is guilty of is being a boring character. The "mysterious monologuing anime character" is a boring, creepy and overplayed stereotype that you have to be under the age of 16 to consider it cool.

Do I think Zero looks cool? Yes
Do I like the fact she is a human/Void sent hybrid? Also yes.
Do I think that they have great potential? 100%

But I am not about to take what little hint of character Zero has and do my own headcanon of it, then turn around and praise the devs for the amazing character I imagined Zero to be. Zero is just a lot of wasted potential.

I saw that we might get more in 6.4 from the trailer, but I won't hold my hopes up. Zero is just plain and simply boring from a character standpoint. And before people start saying that Zero only has "x" amount of screen time so of course they won't be as developed as "insert character here, probably main or secondary cast".
I want to say, yes, I cannot compare Zero with an established character that has lots of screen time. BUT I can compare them with a character who has about the same screen time, or even less. Tesleen from SHB. This character in just a few minutes of screen time provided 10 times more personality than Zero. Heck, even Leena, who *arguably has as much screen time as Zero has more personality than Zero.

And about the LGBTQIA+ thing. Just stop. There is no agenda or anything of the sort being pushed. Zero has not shown interest in anyone, but food. That doesn't qualify as pandering. Pandering would be to SHOW the gay relationship or make Zero say they prefer women. Or that they are not attracted to anyone. There is no pandering, there are just a lot of projections from people that are mad because the grass was greener yesterday.

I don't actually think Zero is a particularly good example of androgyny representation, to be perfectly honest. Maybe it's just me, but she still feels noticeably feminine? Her face and voice in particular stand out to me, my brain immediately thinks "This is a woman, who has the courage to wear what she wishes to". No confusion necessary.

If the intent was androgyny or nonbinary representation, I daresay they put in the barest minimum of effort. But then perhaps I have my standards set a tad too high.

Zero's armor is simply just a male midlander's body, with a convenient cover for her neck so you don't see that it doesn't actually align.
