Nah, either it's a 24/7 game, or a 10 minutes a week game, cant be a middle ground apparently, that'd be illegal, either no content or huge chunks of content that you are 100% """forced""" to doI like how you guys still keep dividing everyone into 2 groups - those who think they'll get burned out if they play for more than hour a week and the other group, the people who supposedly want to play 12 hours a day and want to have content for entirety of it, without any breaks (which supposedly I'm part of, without me even knowing). There is nothing in between for you.
Just give us content with some longevity, something that will not die in a week and something fitting for MMORPG, not some one and done content, which fits single player games. The whole FOMO concerns were so bad that we've come full circle - if you don't do V&C or EO, you don't really lose some kind of progression and fall behind, but you do however lose a good chance at doing said content, since nobody runs V&C or EO anymore. If you didn't play at it's release, you have lost chance at doing it. Devs tried so hard to distance the game from FOMO, that they've unknowingly created different kind of FOMO.

Also me playing World of Warcraft Dragonflight's endgame actually opened my eyes into both how well and how bad progression content should be. They have so many ways in order for you to gear up that its insane. From crafting, to doing harder dungeon runs. To doing weekly quests to doing rep grinds. To doing world events and bosses to doing raids. These systems (while bloated to be honest) bring so much variety into how you want to play the game. Although like I said, these systems are also very bloated and hard to follow to some players, and its telling from the conversations I see of people playing WoW that it's just not enough retention for them to stick with the game for long.
So many of these players rather play a recreation of a decade old version of this video game rather than the amount of content presented in this expansion because its too much. There's a reason back in SB and ShB that the majority of players disliked the exploratory zones because of the boring grinds. Why advocate to bring back these systems without doing something better for them? The grinds in classic WoW were fun because the simple journey to doing its questing, exploration and dungeon content was varied and meaningful so the grind wasnt boring, unlike the simple yet stale journey of Eureka and Bozja of just spamming the same style of activity in boring limiting zones for progression.
Anyway I think what would be good for FFXIV with this example is to seek a middle ground with having varied systems for progression that arent just...roulettes and raids, but dont overdo it like WoW where long term players get sick of the grinds.

this is patently false, and throws things into incorrect territory "It's not a production bandwidth issue like the crunch in ARR/HW or Covid hitting ShB, either;"
Shb released July 2019, 5 months prior to COVID starting to affect work environment. Shb would have had its roadmap pretty firmly baked by then. Does Endwalker have issues, certainly, but how much of that is due to altered work environments, sick time, aspects needing to be cut or removed to make deadlines because of changed situations... we do not know. I am not about to make excuses for SE, but I know in most people experience, it was fairly world changing in terms of scale. This would have been happening to Endwalker development, as it was, it forced the release to be pushed back.
the next expansion? I am willing to wait and see if they manage to pick things up again. Endwalker I am willing to attribute to long covid....and will only forget it if 7.0 is back to form, not a continuation...
What intent was that? Earless Hroths wasn't a joke if thats what you're implying, they really thought people would be okay with that, went forward with it, and took another patch just to fix that after everyone mocked them for it. Now Hroths are a patch behind Viera in catching up to Hairstyles.
I would like to take this time out of my night to humbly remind the lovely participants of this thread of one crucial detail of the English language. The word "fan"....... is, was, has been, and always will remain....
......Shorthand for "fanatic". Think on that for a spell, and maybe a Grand Wizard Revelation may come to your mind.

We are ALL fans of this game. Even the Negative Nannies that want to ruin your day, bash everything and call you stupid, say they are "Fans" of the game. The same way the people who have less to complain about and even White Knight or 'shill' it, are "Fans" of the game. We are all fans.
The amount of Defending, Rationalizing, hating, critiquing, arguing, expressing joy and love for this game....are all things, from "Fans"
And with how Passionate some of us get on Both Sides here.....that is nothing short of ""Fanatic""
Its honestly not that deep. Its very common, and everyone displays it in a Fandom, on some level.
Each and all parties possessing some dire need to reflect does not exactly retract from my point, regardless. If anything, it bolsters it yet further. I know what my flaws are, and I'm working on them. Either way, one has to wonder the precise reasoning for the invention of the shorthand. Not much to think about.

Since we are on the topic appropriate language, maybe we should discuss what a Grand Wizard is...I would like to take this time out of my night to humbly remind the lovely participants of this thread of one crucial detail of the English language.
