Yoshi-P telling people to play other games is the exact excuse he wants to use because he's very well aware of the lack of content in the game, it's used as a distraction for the subpar work they've been doing with 6.x so far.

It still comes off as shocking to me; no game company or developer ever says to their players "play something else", this is exactly how you lose customers real fast, and this drought will simply speed it up the process. If I want to play other games, I will, but I'm also paying for this one here, and I'm expecting to be busy, because I want to play this game.

From my understanding, he wasn't saying "go play other games" in response to people saying there wasn't enough content. If the website I read was right (which, who really knows. I don't speak Japanese), he was saying that they're taking XIV in a less grindy direction intentionally because there is "a lot to do in XIV" and he doesn't want raiders, for example, to feel as though they are only allowed to prog and raid, as well as that there are "so many great games" and he wants us to be able to play them without feeling tied down to XIV. Which from a business standpoint, is a horrible thing to do.

But while I personally do like not feeling like I HAVE to play this game if I decide I wanted to play something else, I do understand that that is not everyone's cup of tea and there are people who are going to be understandly upset by this.

Would it also shock you to learn that the reason he said it wasn't due to lack of faith in his game, it is due to the fact he doesn't want people to feel like they have to play all the time, so go and enjoy other games alongside FFXIV.

Yes, yes it does. While I understand the sentiment and the point of view, it is, in fact, still not the right approach by giving so little content to do as mentioned above. The game is already holding your hand in many things, jobs are becoming homogenized, and 4 month patch cycles will soon begin to be 5-6 months. While yes, there's many things to do, lots still to grind for, that is not necessarily the right thing for everybody. One might say that Manderville relics are a break from the "grind", which incorrect, because you still have to grind for the tomes (one way or another) to get the relic be done to begin with. If SE really didn't want any grind of sorts, the weapons should've been given out for free.

His statement of, feel free to play other games, has been consistent. You are now attributing that to a lack of content. However, if that logic is to hold, it would mean FFXIV has always had a lack of content. Conversely, if the opposite was true, when he said it back in the day when there was 'loads of content', then it shows there is no correlation between his statement and the view of the amount of content in the game. Therefore, trying to use the statement as something that he is saying to cover up the 'lack of content', does not logically follow. Your premise is flawed and so your conclusion is flawed.

The statement has always been about one thing and one thing only. Do not make FFXIV the only game you play. Do not feel shackled into FFXIV when there are plenty of other games for you to enjoy, do not miss out on the other great titles out there just because of FFXIV. No, you're still missing my entire point. I keep saying with Endwalker, there has been "less" to do. If you're happy with the current state the game is, that is perfectly fine, but I am not those kind of people, I want to keep myself busy. If I want to play other games, I will. If I were a raider, I would raid and still play other games because it's my choice alone, and so is yours and the next person's as well. As I said before, less grind =/= lack of content. How would they have more to do without grindy/repetitive content? Even the prior relics were repetition-based for the most part.

For the sake of understanding, what were you spending your time on in the past that is missing now? A lot of the base content is still the same as we have always gotten, just now we have Islands/Criterion Dungeons instead of the Relic grind zones.

Your claim was, Yoshi P is using the excuse to play other games because of a lack of content. I merely stated that this is not the case and that he has always said this, the amount of perceived content is irrelevant.

If you have always had the mindset of not making FFXIV the only game you play, then good for you, the statement does not apply to you, however, it also does not mean you can twist the words to suit your narrative on the current state of the game, which is exactly what you have done. The statement has never been an excuse, so don't try and make it one.

FFXIV was never the only game we were playing.

FFXIV however was a game we wanted to play in addition to those games and for some of us, as is the case for many other mmorpgs, this was our main game/home base.

But it's ok. He'll get his wish. With how empty FFXIV has become now people do not have a choice but to move onto other games. Aside from the Limsa crowd, probably. With how much confidence has been lost this expansion and how they seem to double down on everything that's made Endwalker terrible, I can't see myself subjecting myself to more of this in 7.0.

FFXIV had the chance to do better and it failed. Enjoy what's left of it. You've won.

Here in the present, on Chaos and in the last week of an uneven patch in the smack middle of an expansion, all sort of duties still regularly pop, except Rival wings I guess, and people are still filling practice and clear parties for Savage fights from the last tier.

It seems that people who are more interested in logging in and playing than complaining about their misguided grievances are indeed getting what they wish for.
