For XIV? Yes. I recall getting more dungeons and we eventually got used to one. It’s unfortunate. I do think XIV makes great money but more of it should be returned to XIV. I do feel a lot is siphoned away to other things which I dislike as I pay for this product.

I don’t think it slowed down because they were being nice to the devs. I’m sure they were probably pulled into XVI or something and they aren’t getting the same pay for less work. Just speculation on my part though. I have no idea.

I will say it’s fine IMO that they took risks for different types of content. I like the Islands but I know the content is not for everyone - but content rarely is. If numbers show there was little interest in them then that risk was a failure. Even for me the Island is the last priority I have as it’s so unrelated to my core progression but it’s just a side activity like Gold Saucer to me.

I personally haven’t touched variant dungeons as I don’t see the point of them. I’d rather have more variety in core dungeons rather than having to do the same one of two every roulette. I don’t know anyone into variant dungeons at all and Iam not sure who the audience is for them. To me these are failures and I’d prefer having two core dungeons again over these.

ARR was 3 per patch, including (hard).
HW was either 2, including (hard).
SB was 1 or 2 depending on patch, including (hard).
SHB was 1 per patch, only MSQ.
EW has 1 per patch, only MSQ.

HW/SB/SHB/EW all have had 2 extra dungeons in the X.0 release at the highest level to go along side the final MSQ dungeon.

It still comes off as shocking to me; no game company or developer ever says to their players "play something else", this is exactly how you lose customers real fast, and this drought will simply speed it up the process. If I want to play other games, I will, but I'm also paying for this one here, and I'm expecting to be busy, because I want to play this game.
From my understanding, he wasn't saying "go play other games" in response to people saying there wasn't enough content. If the website I read was right (which, who really knows. I don't speak Japanese), he was saying that they're taking XIV in a less grindy direction intentionally because there is "a lot to do in XIV" and he doesn't want raiders, for example, to feel as though they are only allowed to prog and raid, as well as that there are "so many great games" and he wants us to be able to play them without feeling tied down to XIV. Which from a business standpoint, is a horrible thing to do.

But while I personally do like not feeling like I HAVE to play this game if I decide I wanted to play something else, I do understand that that is not everyone's cup of tea and there are people who are going to be understandly upset by this.

Less grind should not mean lack of content.

Yes, yes it does. While I understand the sentiment and the point of view, it is, in fact, still not the right approach by giving so little content to do as mentioned above. The game is already holding your hand in many things, jobs are becoming homogenized, and 4 month patch cycles will soon begin to be 5-6 months. While yes, there's many things to do, lots still to grind for, that is not necessarily the right thing for everybody. One might say that Manderville relics are a break from the "grind", which incorrect, because you still have to grind for the tomes (one way or another) to get the relic be done to begin with. If SE really didn't want any grind of sorts, the weapons should've been given out for free.

So, you're saying FFXIV has always had a lack of content to do?

Clearly you haven't read my entire reply and just took one sentence out of context to ask me this question. No, I did not say there's no content, I'm saying with 6.x, there has been noticeably less of it.

His statement of, feel free to play other games, has been consistent. You are now attributing that to a lack of content. However, if that logic is to hold, it would mean FFXIV has always had a lack of content. Conversely, if the opposite was true, when he said it back in the day when there was 'loads of content', then it shows there is no correlation between his statement and the view of the amount of content in the game. Therefore, trying to use the statement as something that he is saying to cover up the 'lack of content', does not logically follow. Your premise is flawed and so your conclusion is flawed.

The statement has always been about one thing and one thing only. Do not make FFXIV the only game you play. Do not feel shackled into FFXIV when there are plenty of other games for you to enjoy, do not miss out on the other great titles out there just because of FFXIV. In other words, he just doesn't want you to use FFXIV as an excuse for not playing other games. It has nothing to do with the state of FFXIV and it never will. Anything else is just projection and is you adding some sort of hidden meaning behind it when there is no meaning to be had.

For me I have little issue (for now) with XIV because I am interested in a variety of games. If the quality of the content here isn't keeping my interest, I can spend those hours on a new game with a whole new story and mechanics to enjoy. For me XIV has enough content that I can stay interested in quite a while, but even I decide I'd rather do something new than say....go to my island or something. I just don't often feel like clicking on nodes for that long vs. maybe just booting up Diablo and clicking on monsters there lol.

I still get an hour minimum out of XIV every day since I'm still levelling classes, but when I'm done that I'll probably feel quite the lull. I'm mostly interested in MSQ, levelling combat classes, and upgrading gear and when that cycle is over I typically look elsewhere rather than do less interesting (to me) content.

That said I do understand the concern of those who feel the balance of content they are interested in vs. not interested is resulting in them not wanting to play, which is valid feedback.

I don't personally feel like there is a significantly lesser amount of content. The biggest factor, imo, is that there isn't a new exploratory zone to eat up people's time. The new content that was added was more casual or lacked incentivising rewards. Which I get, makes people feel like there was no content added, due to them not wanting to do it.

However, I do personally feel that, while exploratory zones are usually received very well, if they added one every single expansion, the concept would become stale pretty quickly.

Oversaturating the game with one kind of content because it was received well the first time wouldn't be good for the game, either.

Not every expansion is going to be chalk full of things everyone enjoys. They need to add a variety of different content, since there are a variety of different style players. And I feel they did.

IS was fine, and if there were more variation in the VC routes and better/more prizes, I'm sure that would have been received better. Maybe the second one coming out in.. I think 6.45? Will be better.

    As for DD, it's standard.

Not everything is for everyone. But just because the content isn't your preference, doesn't mean it's not content.
